As someone who organises events for a living I concur on knowing what’s involved. It’s the fine details which make the difference, but there’s a multitude of them and they are mentally and physically exhausting to put them all together. Yes you get a great deal of satisfaction from the events, but they do drain you.
I have never been to TransFormal or TransActShon (timing never works for me as it’s in the middle of my work events season), but all I hear are good things and loads of energy and enthusiasm. I can only hope that all who attend appreciate what it takes to put on events like these and if there are little things which don’t go to plan, empathy is shown in working them out. At the end of the day it’s not a business putting on these events (would be a damn sight more expensive if it was), just a group of enthusiastic volunteers trying to do their best for the community x

This is clearly an institutional thing and the systems they are using still have a basis from decades ago. Unfortunately many companies don’t see the need to change things like this as they consider the impact minimal. However, as Adrian rightly points out, it does cause offence. Unless Apia hierarchy ( or their reinsurers as there are only four in Australia I believe) consider it important it will always be assigned to the don’t give a crap basket, hence the automated responses. Sad but true for too many
