\nAn MP will look to reform and modernise NSW\u2019s laws to improve rights for LGBTQI+ people, and \u201cmake life easier for a trans person\u201d. <\/p>\n
The omnibus bill, which will be introduced by independent Sydney MP Alex Greenwich to ban conversion therapy, will allow people over the age of 16 to change their sex without surgery, and establish consent laws for intersex people.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould this bill pass, it will just make life easier for a trans person,\u201d Mr Greenwich said. <\/p>\n
\u201cImportantly, it modernises our laws to make sure that protections that were drafted in the \u201970, \u201980s and \u201990s are reflective of a modern day.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt also seeks to update the language and terminology in our state\u2019s rules, which is quite outdated, to make it more inclusive, to ensure that people cannot be discriminated against with their sexuality or gender identity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
