Simple beauty tips to stay youthful
Posted by Anonymous on 29/03/2010 at 11:25 pmHello Girls,
I thought I would share some tips with you about beauty. They are simple and common sense things that everyone can do.
* wear sunglasses as often as possible to save your sight and stop squinting which causes facial lines
* use moisteriser after saving and/or showering. This replaces skin moisture and prevents premature skin ageing due to dryness.
* drink at least 500ml of fresh water each day. This hydrates your body and keeps skin supple.
* always use sunscreen even on overcast days. The sun is the biggest causes of dry and ageing skin
* Don’t smoke and limit alcohol intake. Both these age the body far beyond mere years on the planet.
* Adopt a diet that contains larger portions of vegetables and fruit then red meat. Good foods are: whole grains, olive oil, and fish.
Iam cofident that these tips will help you feel good and look good as well.Anonymous replied 15 years ago 1 Member · 6 Replies -

Good advice! …. and, whenever possible, wear a broad-rimmed hat when in the sun.

You should also choose the type of lens carefully. I prefer polarized glass (plastic) as it is much more effective at removing the UV, you can also wear them at night (they stop glare of cars coming towards you) without them impairing vision. (that might be hard to believe, but try it before you comment)
Quote:* use moisteriser after saving and/or showering. This replaces skin moisture and prevents premature skin ageing due to dryness.I don’t do this. However I do use ‘Dove Cleanser and Toner’ on my face in sparing quantities.
Quote:* drink at least 500ml of fresh water each day. This hydrates your body and keeps skin supple.Nor this, but it is good for you in many other ways.
Quote:* always use sunscreen even on overcast days. The sun is the biggest causes of dry and ageing skinI don’t do this. It causes me to rash and/or zits (zits on my face, rashes anywhere else on my body) with the exception of very light/occasional use of Nivia Spray on sunscreen. That said I stay out of the Sun, not by staying indoors all day, but I sun bathe for about 20 minutes a year usually, never wear a hat, but avoid walking in the sun during the summer (who really walks in the sun in Brisbane in the summer anyhow?
)
Quote:* Don’t smoke and limit alcohol intake. Both these age the body far beyond mere years on the planet.I smoked from the age of 16 to 30, and have had times of very heavy alcohol ingestion. I’m now 40.

Quote:Iam cofident that these tips will help you feel good and look good as well.I get many people suggesting I’m no older than 27-30, that’s other TGs, GGs and Guys. People are amazed when I tell them I’m going on 41, and regularly have to pull out my passport to prove it. Some say it’s in the genes, some say a variety of other things, however I firmly believe that it’s diet for the number one reason to stay looking young. Here’s some of the diet things I do:
Every day of the week I have breakfast (no exceptions, and usually between 7am and 8am) and it’s either a smoothy (1 banana, 5-8 strawberries, 1 tub of fresh yogurt, 300-500ml organic soy milk (with calcium) all blended together), or a fry up (omelette or scrambled eggs (at least 2 eggs), 1 slice of bread (with butter, not toasted), one piece of back bacon (remove the fat before frying), one pork sausage, mushrooms and a little onion – all fried in OLIVE OIL.)
Everyday have lunch at 12 noon – 2pm (not more less than 4 hours from the last meal, not more than 5 hours either) and it usually consists of warmed up left overs from the night before, or a sandwich (if a sandwich, chicken, cheese, coleslaw in 4 slices of bread, or chicken salad.)
Every evening have “dinner”, this can be anything from pasta base, to rice base, to a fry up to a roast. The key is fresh fruit and veg (organic if possible), something different every night, and always include at least 2 vegetables other than potatoes. I use olive oil for everything except making chips. I do not use frozen chips when I have them and I don’t have chips more than once a week. I limit intake of potatoes (1 large or 2 small per day max) I don’t cook the pasta ‘al dante’ I cook it until saturated with water (extra 10 minutes cooking) – this means that you eat less pasta and more water to get ‘full’. All this again 4-5 hours after the last meal (but often not possible) or at least 4 hours before I go to bed.
I eat lots of cheese, and have full fat milk in my coffee’s, and try to include a piece of fish at least once a week. Macca’s, KFC, BK/Hungry Jacks etc feature in my diet once every several weeks… Since moving to Malta (Oct 2009) I have had Macca’s 3 times, and no KFC or BKs. Fast food is bad for you no matter what you have.
I don’t do diets, I eat until I feel full (tip: it takes 5-6 minutes for the brain to get the message “I’m full” from the stomach so eat slowly.)
What the above has done for me you can see in my photos, and for those that don’t know, I’m 6’1 and weigh 81kg, I used to weigh 95kg until I started eating breakfast and lunch regularly…. Yes I lost weight by eating more…! (A professional told me once, if you don’t eat enough the body does this ‘starvation mode’ thing, and will store every piece of goodness, sugar and fat possible, hence people that come off intensive diets often put on a lot of weight.)
I also don’t exercise, however instead of using the lift at work, I use the stairs – even if I have to go from the ground floor to the 4th floor.
Biggest thing to stay young for me though – I don’t use a lot of makeup and when I do I don’t use chemicals to remove it, I use a little of that Dove cleanser and toner to wash my face.
Everyone is different, the OP’s tips might work for you, I have explained what I do.. You mileage may vary in either case.
Stay safe and enjoy life.

Guest31/03/2010 at 10:53 pmDear Shells,
You have such a lot of tips.
Yes. My friends think I am about age 40. I am age 60.
I put that down to not smoking, coffee only occasionally (never Instant coffee) wines/beer in moderation (but I do love pink sparking wine when I feel like playing up) and general good food in moderation and exercise.
Congratulations on your good looks. You look fantastic!

Guest02/04/2010 at 4:21 pmWhen it comes to moisturisers I try to avoid ones with mineral oils in them. Ok sure you’ll read countless articles persuading you either way, so really… it’s up to the individual (like everything). Personally I find that it makes sense.
I’ve been wanting to make the switch for months (years?) and I always find myself picking up that slightly more expensive brand with the healthier ingredients in them but it hasn’t been in my budget for some time which really bugs the crap out of me.
One alternative that I do use and that is cheap is apple cider vinegar diluted in water. This heaps to cleanse and balance the skins pH. It’s more or less the best thing for your skin imo. I also use it diluted in my hair. Vinegar really is one of those wonder products sent from heaven, it does everything!!I’d say most people these days are wising up to the fact that we have two choices. The cheap big brand products that have cheap synthetic chemicals that work but also are harsh and do damage. Or the slightly more expensive natural method that also works but has no side effects.
It’s all down to money and these times are tough enough for most to be cornered into taking the cheaper option.
I honestly consider anyone that scoffs at this to be ignorant.
When I finally start working I’ll gladly make sacrifices else where to be able to look after myself better with higher quality products.
I also avoid sunscreens (and the sun) for the same reasons.I’d say the two best ideas mentioned are water and a healthy diet, we are too focussed on fixing from the outside and not enough from the inside, which is the way the body regenerates
Makes sense!
Some ideas I’ve found that I swear by are avoiding dairy products (they contain casein which coats the intestines and effects nutrient absorption. It also floods the body with histamines), food combinations and timing which also effect absorption. The body works like a machine so it’s best to understand it and cater to it’s needs. When you’re in sync you utilise the food you eat better and have ten fold more energy, feel happier and more alive.
God knows why some food companies want us to cater to our taste buds and bog us down :S I could only speculate.
ggeezzz I’m on the verge of ranting here >_<
