Shana Its a great concept let’s continue the planning .
    I’ve heard P&O are difficult.
Princess Cruises are more easy going . I don’t have direct experience of being on a cruise but know someone who has done quite a few with Trans people. give me a call!!

Boy mode is easier, but what a load of crap anyway as wearing a dress etc has nothing to do with GENDER anyway.
As long as you have a Passport or photo ID for coastal cruises SHOULD be acceptable

    Hi Shana
Just sent this email off as a generalinquiry.
Will wait and see what response I get now :)

    Hello P&O
I am a regular Cruiser and I suggested a Cruise to our members and as such a large group of us, respectful males, are booking a cruise soon, and where we will be presenting as females, as is our regular presentation.
an initial inquiry to P&O got a blunt NO as to our plans and which attitude was not very helpful, and I would like to clear the air of any confusion.

Mainly our members have presented and flown regularly enFemme without any dramas or disrespect from the Authorities.

Also Discrimination Laws make it Illegal to discriminate any person based on their sex, gender or orientation, as you would know.

Hopefully we can sort this out beforehand and to enlighten your boarding crew etc as to what is involved so as not to have a scene where we are discriminated against, and in public.

Many of us have Memberships and even licenses where AKA and a femme name is acceptable.

Hopefully we can expect some similar respect from P&O.

    Kind regards
    John aka Jennett

Sounds like a great idea. Personally, I would present in male mode for boarding and then become a girl once in my cabin, presuming that P&O are not going to get stuffy about me wandering about the ship en femme. I know that will not suit many others, so I hope you can reach a workable solution for everyone. If P&O don’t want our money, we should be able to find another cruise company who can.

    Hi ALL
here is the official details of ID required when boarding
    recd via Caroline/Geoff

Australian Domestic Cruises (Coastal – includes Tasmania and cruises to Willis Island)
Government issued photo ID is always preferred for check-in and should be recommended at all times to all passengers. Proof of Age cards should be encouraged (if time permits for applying) if they don’t possess a passport or drivers licence. Examples of government ID’s are:
    > Current Passport (or expired within 5 years*) – Can be issued by any country.
    > Current Licence (or expired within 5 years*) – We will accept any form of licence, such as Drivers (including older style QLD licence), heavy vehicle, or high risk work (forklift licence)
    > Proof of Age or Photo cards – The older QLD 18+ cards can be used as a form of photo ID to verify a person’s name, however it cannot be used to verify a person’s age. Passengers using an 18+ card should bring a copy of their birth certificate as proof of age. See below for information on cards from each State.
    > Government Identification cards – Such as Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or Australian Defence force Identification card. Also a Disability Parking Card (Government Issued) is acceptable as long as it has a photo.
    > Companion card – This is for people with a significant permanent disability, who always need a companion to provide attendant care type support in order to participate at most available community venues and activities
    > For passengers under 18 – Medicare cards or birth certificate will be accepted.
Please note: NZ passengers coming to Australia for a Coastal cruise will use their current valid Passport as ID, there are no other requirements. For minors, an original or certified copy of the child’s birth certificate or a school pass with photo will be accepted.

    * If an expired government ID is presented for a coastal cruise it should be backed up with a current other document with the same particulars; for example credit card, bank card or Medicare card. This should only be done as a last resort/ emergency and is not generally acceptable.

Passengers who do not posses a Passport or Government Issued Photo ID for an Australian Domestic cruise will need to show two (2) forms of ID (document or card showing their full name). One of these MUST be government issued.
Examples of government issued ID (non-photo):
    > Medicare card
    > Pension / Concession card
    > Seniors card
    Other forms of accepted ID:
    > Credit card or bank card
    > Bank statement
    > Utilities bill (water, electricity, rates etc.)
    > RSL club card
    > Student card
    > Electoral enrolment card
Passengers who present to check-in with insufficient ID or no ID will be denied boarding, with no refund offered.

anaechdotely people are telling me should be no problem

last bit is interesting ..you can board with a medicare card
and a credit card as ID

still waiting on official replies..will let you know as i get any replies

    WE WILL BE GOING ….HOWEVER

    Hi All
just got off phone to Royal Caribbean
    NO problem
advised that if we let them know what cruise we
were taking they would advise the relevant ship
    details of our boarding
NO problem as far as I could see …if i got
back to same person he would arrange for cabins to
    be together..basically very helpful

    Hi all
More good news ..reply from travel wholesaler..clean cruises

    Hi Shanalee,
Apologies for taking a couple of days to get back to you, but I have some good news!

I’ve checked with a few of our account managers and they have come back advising that it is possible to make the booking as per the names on the ID’s and present as female.

I checked with, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises. So you have a few choices of cruise lines and it doesn’t have to be just a domestic cruise.
P&O and Princess both offer the cruise to nowhere – 2 to 4 nights, where Celebrity have a little longer cruises. So it will depend on what you all decide.
Have a look at the cruise options and chat to the ladies and we can take it from there.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information and we would be more than happy to help you and the ladies get away for a holiday!

    Kindest regards
    Rae

    SO When..
    Is the next question
    Let me know your preferences
    Regards

The question of the use of your ID on the ship is somewhat confusing so I offer my understanding of the procedures involved with your ID whilst checking in for the cruise and whilst on the cruise (based on my experience of over 30 cruises):

    1. The shipping lines emphasize that the name on the ID you present when checking in must be identical to the name you used when booking the cruise. And to this end your cruise card (which is used to pay for all on board purchases and to open your cabin door etc) will have been pre-printed with your booking ID before you arrive at the cruise terminal. So if your booking ID is in your male name, the crew will see your male name on your Cruise ID card whenever you make a purchase. However, the crew are always issuing new Cruise ID Cards, as they frequently fail to open the cabin door, but I am uncertain if they will then change an ID on the card as it may muck up their accounting systems.
    2. The Cruise ID card does NOT have your picture on it but the ship will take your picture when you first board the ship, after going through the terminal check-in.
    3. Whilst on the ship you normally do not have to display any ID other than the Cruise Card (when we board the ship one of the first things we do is place our passports into the cabin safe as they are not needed until we leave the ship).
    4. When checking in in the Terminal it is unlikely you will have contact with the ship’s crew as check in is carried by one of the two companies who are contracted by all the local shipping lines. Others you will be involved with are the security staff who check you in the same manner as an airport, and, possibly, health and customs, representatives.
    5. The check-in process can take a long time (over an hour) with a lot of queuing if you arrive at a peak time. Check-in normally starts about midday and is very busy until about 2pm or later.

For those of you who have never cruised before these procedures may appear a little daunting but don’t worry, the atmosphere amongst passengers when boarding is very positive and this continues throughout the trip. And you will be amazed at the facilities onboard – full scale theatres, multiple restaurants, often top class performers every night, many daily activities, multiple pools, movies under the stars, bars, casino etc etc. And don’t worry about seasickness – these ships are very BIG and it is rare to even feel any movement..

So get your gear together and join those of us who will definitely be going on Shana’s cruise

    Christina Camplin Reed
Christina Camplin Reed There’s no such thing as “boarding in female mode”. It’s just boarding. There’s not separate check-in or lines or such for females versus males… What are you expecting to be different? As long as your IDs match your boarding docs, you’re all set.

    Demetrius Craig
Demetrius Craig No worries Shanalee. Princess is very accommodating to all. There won’t be any issues. Just show up and board the ship!

    Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises Hi, Shanalee. We’re excited to welcome you aboard! Guests must book using the name as it appears on their legal travel documents, but you should not have any problems at check-in so long as we can make a positive match to any government-issued photo ID. All guests are addressed using their preferred name, pronoun, or title, and our Guest Services Desk can issue you a Cruise Card with your preferred name.

OK GUYS THATS IT ..GREAT RESPONSES ..WHEN DO WE GO ….SUGGESTING 22nd OCT 2018 its a mon start

With all that experience “on board” I think you will be indispensable on the “To Nowhere Cruise”.

Shana is doing a great job at looking at best options for us.
This will be a great event.

IMO we should arrange this as a 2019 event and let’s say around April /May it would probably be difficult to stage in the remainder of this year and find suitable numbers I suspect..??.people need some time to organize their budget $$ just like they do for Transformal.

Are you considering a Syd departure and return? That might suit more people.

If you are going with Princess I’m sure our friend Geoff can arrange some special attention for us on board.
