french fashion hiuse uses transwoman model
is this the thin end of the wedge? not before time, french fashion label, givenchy (orgnaza is my favourite fragrance of theirs – you lie back in bed and smoke a cigarette after putting it on ) has seen the light regarding the beauty inherent in transgender people, and used one in their latest fashion campaign:
Trans model stars in Givenchy adverts
A trans woman is one of the models in an advert for designer label Givenchy.
Lea T is a former male model and previously worked as the assistant of Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci.
She can be seen in an autumn/winter 2010 group image for the brand, with her arm draped seductively around a male model.
Lea, 28, has undergone hormone therapy and is said to be planning to undergo lower surgery soon.
She has become a fixture in the fashion world and has been featured in a number of fashion magazines.
She appears naked in next month’s French Vogue, half hiding her genitals behind her hand. She told the magazine that she had a “revelation” when Tisci encouraged her to wear high heels in public.
Lea has also been featured in Italian Vanity Fair, where she discussed the prejudice she has experienced as a trans woman.
Tisci told WWD that his new model was “very feminine: superfragile, very aristocratic. She’s part of the family”.
He added that she was leaving fashion to pursue a career in veterinary surgery.
