TgR Wall Forums Transgender Radio Improving TgR State Based TR Liason Contacts

  • State Based TR Liason Contacts

As I was musing the other night I wondered how we could potentially better
communicate within our community, I remain concerned about the many different support organisations that a number of us have contact with, and yet there seems to be a reluctance within the various TG organisations to strike up a continuing “helping” or positive dialogue with each other.

A potential solution appealed to me, it is the establishment of “Liason Contacts ” on a State by State Basis by, in the first instance, TrannyRadio. Of course if the idea was acceptable this could be the basis for an Australia wide network (or sensing tool) that could aid cooperation in our wider community.

The specific nature of the roles could be further refined, however I hope the concept is of some interest.

From my perspective the communication between TgR and other organisations is very ad hoc at the moment.
I have received a request in the past from Chams in WA to establish a more formal forum for communication.
But whilst I strongly believe in all groups working together.. I don’t think those lines of communication should all come back to Amanda in Sydney!
So there is some merit in Kathy’s suggestion.
Perhaps to progress the idea we need to suggest what the “liaison person” is going to be asked to do… and I suggest it not be made to onerous.

Well Amanda it seems to have the correspondents a little underwhelmed, It would have been nice to see any visible cons as well as any support for the Idea, is it just me that sees a need to lift our communication between support orgs?

Sadly most of the stories that I have heard about getting some “inter org support” for various projects have been negative.

Has our community simpley instutionalised the “Walls Up” to outsiders despite the undeniable synergies from tome to time!

    Kathy,

    Nice Post!!!

Youve clearly reached that point where the enjoyment you have gained from meeting and socialising with people in TR makes you feel you want to give something back to assist others..Developing more favourable communications between the various “member” groups in Australia is a bit like the search for the Holy Grail Difficult but definitely a noble Idea

happy to be involved if help needed
    Regards

    Caroline

I have heard the current co-ordinator of Chams talking about this concept and wanting to get some ideas in action.

    Karron,
I think I know what you are referring to, Claire has in the past written to me making proposals.
But I am not prepared to let TgR be used a political vehicle to bind together and represent the disparate support groups in each state. I feel that any such political role would probably destroy TgR before it achieved anything of substance.

I’m pretty sure Kathy is talking about liason – just cooperation between equals and opening lines of communication. If people are prepared to volunteer to build bridges in each state – then maybe we will start to act in greater harmony.
Its a grand aim – but better than perpetuating the current model where other organisations or groups are frequently seen as a potential threat and are actively discriminated against.

So this isn’t about TgR trying to dominate other groups, nor is it about TgR just acting on behalf of other groups – it has to be about collaboration and communication.

Thank you all for your replies, I am very encouraged, while I recognise that there is a huge distance to travel to realise some of my vision of a supportive community village of caring generous organisations.

There is a chance that we may become a little more unified as a minority sector while independance of the component organisations remains important / critical !

Perhaps we can help slowly to generate and grow (through this loose affiliation) that important feeling of belonging in a not too accepting world in which we live to a substantial group of caring people.

I would love to hear more feedback from anyone no matter how you feel about the concept, for of course the further development of this rather optimistic plan would have to pass through the policy settings of the moderator group within TR.

    Kathy
