What a good idea! I’m sure that many of us would have a few things to contribute.

Good 4 you Fiona, I know that there are many talented TGR members out there, have you discussed with Amanda?
I think it’s a great Idea. -

I think it’s a great Idea.Thankyou Kathy. Yes I asked Amanda and she said to post the idea here. If it gets enough interest she’ll make it into a forum topic.

Highjacking a forum will not achieve what you want.
a) because it annoys the webmistress who has to tidy up.
b) because what is needed to get your idea started is NOT content – but a statement as to what the forum is to be called and what is the acceptable content. In other words the forum needs a mission to say why and what people can post in it. If you use the flag post to discuss that and not to post gardens the forum will appear a lot quicker!

Guest28/06/2011 at 11:46 pmI tried to delete that post but I’m not allowed to because it’s been moderated.I was just trying to be affable with that post and I’m sorry to have offended you with it. I would like it to be removed but I can’t remove it.

Quote:That is correct. You were not asked to delete any offensive post… you were asked to retract it. Saying that calling the webmistress “hitler” is affable is a strange way to retract the posting.I’m getting quite fed up of the way some members seem it to think it is fair game to attack the webmistress but will cry out if they receive similar treatment from others. It is happening too frequently now… and if people can’t see how unfair their behaviour is then I am just going to hit the DELETE PROFILE button more often. Fiona is not the only member currently ‘in my sights’

Guest22/08/2011 at 7:39 amNow that the dust from this unfortunate episode has had time to settle, I was wondering if the idea did indeed have some merit. There appeared to be some, (now sensibly keeping their heads down no doubt!) who showed some interest. Is there a possibility of such a topic and if so , where could such posts be lodged, in the blogs perhaps ?
I would also like to suggest that any photos be via a Flickr account. The link could be supplied and this would mean that Tgr’s bandwidth would not be compromised and when someone leaves the site, Amanda would not have to find and delete all the photos ( if any). This seems to work in another site that I have visited.
What sayest thou dear leader?

I’m more than happy to explore the concept…my concerns are
a) that i don’t want to host a forum that allows members to post pictures of anything they like. “My house – I painted it yesterday”….”My car I changed the oil today”.
I’m very negative about the value of sharing the trivia of your life with others (yes i don’t tweet!!!).
So all I’m looking for is a rule of what constitutes something that has been “made, built, grown, repaired, maintained” (I guess it is the last two that seem to include many boring things!)b) And pictures that disappear. So links to external picture sites that go when the user cancels their account are a worry. For the events on TgR we use our own Google gallery….so if there is some structure to where all these pictures are located then I would be happy.

Guest23/08/2011 at 7:31 amAmanda, I agree with the point that it should be about interesting things that have been created( art, craft etc ) and not scones or made beds etc. , though I do have some rather racy pics of the new worm farm I just constructed!! though I was hoping to post them one day on” slimy sluts” website for a small sum in order to fund my dotage!!.
A simple rule and off topic option may enforce the right spirit on the thread. Back in your court.

I continue to support the concept while understanding the need for a “Interest Factor” the discussion re links is more technical than I fully understand however the “flicca” concept sounds reasonable.
The more that TGR can “Value add” to our members (some of whom are quite isolated by many factors) the better the community support is. -

Picassa works for me as you can make the albums private…I can set up an album and publish the login/password in the forum . Obviously I can’t stop some feral member going in one day and deleting all the pictures… but it should work for a while.
