Posted by Anonymous on 29/05/2012 at 9:26 am

As we know, estrogen implants left the market a while ago,
well now we have a new manufacturer in Aust.
I use these and they are good and the best price.
Just passing on my find. Hope it helps.

    Thanks Maddy
I already have 2 of them in my butt! But via my endo. I do not think that anyone should try to self medicate with these – ie; insert them yourself.

The Sydney made ones are cheaper than those now made in Adelaide. That is another bonus.

You need a script to get them and LoL it would be awfully hard and painful to insert them correctly under your own butt skin 😉 The insertion is the cheapest part :)

My Endo has me on patches and suggested the implants to me. I said I would give it some thought.

Technically Richard Stenlake is not a “manufacturer” but a compounding chemist. He will likely be buying the estrogen and then creating a formulation based on a “recipe” that they would have access to.

BE WARNED!!! Compounding is NOT an exact science. There are none of the quality control processes such as sampling product after it is made to ensure there is still the label dose, checking for impurities or contaminants OR checking to see that the degradation and absorption is consistent.

Please, don’t get me wrong. I know a number of compounding chemists and they are good people, BUT make sure if you are going to go this path that you are under the care of a GP who REALLY knows what they are doing or preferably an endocrinologist. I would also be prepared to do more regular blood work to ensure the estrogen release is stable.

This is very good advice as Oestrogens have the potential to be dangerous in terms of DVTs and a whole range of other health issues.

Blood work is important to make sure you are not putting your health at risk and quite rightly needs to be monitored closely, but there is another dimension.

Orally ingested oestrogens apparently have to pass through the liver twice. Consequently they may give higer “blood level” readings of oestrogen than transdermal pellets and place you in greater risk of oestrogen induced serious health problems – whilst problematically giving you LESS oestrogen “effect”.

In discussion with your health care professional it is very sensible to try a number of “delivery methods”.

My own 2c worth is that oral oestrogen (eg Premarin) gave very little body and mind effect, but high (risky) blood level readings but pellet implants give excellent mind and body feelings and much lower (healthier) blood level readings.

So the previous post was quite right – get your blood levels checked ! – but don’t necessarily assume that higher levels automatically mean more “oestrogenic effect”. Others of course may have other expericences…
