  • Came out to my flatmate!

Today I told my flatmate everything..

We were at the local having a beer or 5, and a few games of pool. He seemed to be well lubricated after a couple of hours so I said “hey I’ve got something to tell you..”

I made sure to tell him while he was taking a shot so he’d miss it :P

To my surprise he was not only accepting but really positive about it. He thinks it’s cool and makes me an interesting person! I thought he would probably be OK with it but as it turns out he was more than OK and said his girlfriend might be able to give me tips with makeup etc.

We had a good laugh in the end because he said he knew that something was up. A combination of all the beauty products in the bathroom and the fact that there isn’t a hair below my neck that hasn’t been plucked, epilated or shaved off 😆

it’s great that it turned out ok for you – coming out the first few times can get quite nerve-racking, but easier and easier. after half a year of not having to explain myself, i just came out to my bf just a few days ago, while having a midnight snack at pancakes on the rocks, and it definitely went smoothly.

most difficult are family and your closest friends, as they have known you the longest. given time, they will get used to you – however you present yourself – just be natural.

p.s. is your flatmate handsome / cute? =)

Thanx Maya :) I was nervous about it and might not have been able to go through with it without being a bit tipsy.

Good on you for telling your new bf! It’s great that things went smoothly for you.. and that pancake restaurant is awesome :P Have you tried the Mexican one?

Let’s see what happens with family / friends.. I’m in no rush.

HAHA he is kind of cute but in a rough Ned Kelly kind of way. Some are into that, but give me a freshly oiled twink any day :P

What a great story with such a positive outcome. I hope your Flat mate’s girlfriend takes up the offer to help you with small tips. Lets hope the three of you bond in a positive way. You never know, it might be a positive outcome for all and another outlet for you to venture out in public more often with a support mechanism. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Bridgette :) Well my flatmate escorted me to a nearby pub tonight which was nice of him. I think he was disappointed that no abuse was forthcoming, since he’s the kind of guy who likes an excuse for a fight :P

    Hi Andi

What a lovely outcome for you. Surely the next question has to be, How will his girlfriend feel about him living and going out with, another woman. I hope that goes as well for you too.

    Hugs

You go girl!! I told my best friend about 2 years ago. He took it ok. We haven’t been out for a while although we are supposed to be going for a beer this Friday for a big one so either he has come to accept the idea or he has forgotten. I hope it was the first. One as I would really prefer he knows.
My wife doesn’t mind as much lately. I have been pushing the boundaries a bit. Wearing bras all the time when home. Especially under a singlet when I go to bed so that the straps stick out. Also wearing her skinny jeans. This one annoys her a bit because she can’t fit back into them after having our last little one yet. It makes me feel good though being able to go half femme at home even with the kids around. That and fitting into a pair of size 10 skinny jeans.
Hope all goes well and you have a lot more adventures out of the house.

Woo hoo Andi! Coming out to those closest to you rocks!

I am finding people so accepting myself. They are our friends. We chose them for a reason and they, us in return. Be confident in your love for your friends and their’s for you. Thats what friends are for.

Joy for you chicky! Alex :)
