into the mirror
I’ve just got home from a rocky beginning to the evening, I went to see the stage show ” into the mirror” unfortunately two other girls who were supposed to have come along couldn’t make it to the performance maybe next time.
Writer-director “Shirley Wall” presented an interesting evening a story that many of us can relate to one person’s journey to find themselves and to be understood by the ones they love, which is not always given.
Kendall is a person in transition a woman who has made the decision to become a man. Finding themselves being pushed and pulled by family and friends and being questioned about all the decisions that they make. The story starts after 18 months in the UK Melanie arrives home to discover her mother Sally is a complete stranger and struggles with the universal question we all ask ourselves; what am I going to do without my mother?
Sally – now known as Kendall is desperate to be the man he wants to be and is trying to erase his life as Sally prior to transitioning.
Tyler, reeling from an explosive lesbian relationship, meets Kendall and there’s captivated by his endearing charm, causing Tyler to question her own sexuality. Meanwhile, Sophia is torn and haunted by a decision she made years ago; her own struggle becomes a mirror in to lives of the other characters. And Laura must deal with the consequences of a childhood secret that will ultimately affect her future.I found the world premiere of this stage play has been poorly advertised but if you like to support local theatre and writers a good opportunity to do so.
