Returned home today (Sunday 20th) from the suporn clinic in Thailand.

Staff at the hospital and at the Suporn clinic are excellent. It is still early (30 days) since the surgery and things will need to settle down for a little while, but I am happy. Dr Suporn would have to be the most understanding surgeon I have met.

The hardest part I found was coming off the hormones for so long before and afterwards. The emotions swung widely and dramas at home made it hard to relax at times. If seeking SRS may I suggest that you concentrate on your recovery and let the dramas at home stay there.
The other thing I found difficult was being confined to bed for so long.

Travelling to thailand for SRS can be a daunting business and I found the isolation while recovering in my room at the hotel a very diifficult expereince. I suggest that those travelling to Thailnd for SRS take a support person with them or at least have a RELIABLE contact person here in Australia. It makes the recovery period that much more pleasant.

Big huggs to you Erika. Congratulations on such a courageous effort. Self fulfillment must be a pretty much indescribable feeling, not to mention that moment of silent ecstasy when you realize congruency has been achieved.

You are absolutely right about having support people with you. It’s almost mandatory, for your own self preservation.

I, personally am heading to the States later this year for excactly the same reason. I’m soooooooo lucky to have my adoreable sister-in-law accompanying me.

Welcome home, speedie recovery and big huggs. Oh! and remember to keep up that totally awesome ‘maintenance ‘ schedule up :)

    Huggs

I would’ve thought the states would be an outrageously expensive choice ?
Congratulations on closing the male book xxx .

Thank you Erika for sharing in a way that I’m sure will help others.

BUT can we please keep all the congratulations to the unmoderated forums – it is what blogs are for. And if we want to discuss surgery in the USA that is a new thread.

This thread (stating the obvious) is about Dr Suporn, experiences of surgery in Thailand, and tips for others taking the same approach.
