Weekend away Hunter Valley Vineyards DONE AND DUSTED
Posted by Shana on 06/08/2018 at 8:47 amYou can never have too much wine…maybe
We tested that last weekend
BUT after 4 or was it 5 wine tastings we decided
That maybe we should visit a distillery
Mmm …..returned to our rented digs and had some food
Refreshed we sipped on some purchases but then we remembered
That the owner of the property had a wine fridge stocked with wine
That we could access for freeI noted at breakfast there was six empties on the bench
SO IT LOOKS LIKE OUR SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT PROVES YOU
CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH WINE…LOLOur Weekend in the Vineyards went too quick and i am sure was a success
Next will be a 3 day Cruise to nowhere
Will advise details soon

Deleted User06/08/2018 at 1:12 pmI attended the Hunter Valley Vineyards weekend which i thoroughly enjoyed, so would like to publicly record my appreciation of Shana for organising and operating the weekend which ran so smoothly.
For those of us who are new to appearing in public it proved to be a wonderful opportunity to mix with the general public as all day long we shared a minibus, shared wine-tasting, and shared lunch with the others on the bus, all without any comments or difficulties.
And at the end of each day we could retire to our very comfortable accommodation to share our experiences and wine. Well done, Shana.I, like many, am very sad at the passing of Transformal as it provided a wonderful introduction for we newcomers. But I fully appreciate all Adrian’s efforts and understand why she no longer wishes to carry the full burden of organising Transformal.
Nevertheless i am cursing that I did not come out earlier and enjoy many more Transformals. However this makes me even more grateful to Shana for her efforts with the Vineyards weekend and hope that other similar initiatives will be developed to fill the gap left by Transformal. And i cannot close without recording my appreciation of the support I have received from ALL members of TGR I have come into contact with in the 6 months i have been a member. The support and warmth you have supplied to a nearly 80 year old who spent almost 70 years in hiding has been most heart-warming. Thank you.

The weekend was everything I had hoped for anda massive step in my journey to be a confident trans woman in public. Loved how the tour bus slowly warmed to us – great fun.
Thanks girls

As Shana and others have hinted I think we all need to throw our ideas into the ring and make sure we keep doing things like this.
There is nothing better than to meet up with people you have only been chatting to online or through these forums , lasting friendships are forged. -
Well done to Shana and everyone who popped along to the Hunter Valley Vineyards it looks like a fabulous time was had by all!

What a fantastic fun weekend.
Great location, terrific accommodation, magnificent company and a bucket load of wine thrown in as well. Not to mention chocolate, cheese, schnapps and vodka.
Shana’s ‘heritage’ contributed to the house on Hermitage Road being a little evasive to locate, but all worked out well in the end.Friday night saw our group of Damsels partaking of food and wine at a local restaurant which was a first time public experience for one of our group. After a fulfilling meal and a few drinks around a fire pit we all retired reasonably early anticipating a BIG day on the Saturday.
Our 20 seater bus arrived about 10:30 with two rather surprised passengers already on board. We then proceeded to pick up the remaining pax and as they boarded it was fun to watch their faces as they noticed the TgR girls were not quite what they first appeared to be. That turned out OK as the hours and vineyards passed and with the exception of one middle aged stuffy gent the others became quite friendly and one of the four female Uni students even said they were envious of Fay’s 4″ heel lace up boots.
We stopped for lunch at a very busy eatery where we sat around a large table. Shana sat next to the stuffy guy and he managed to finish his meal without once making eye contact with any of us. I think he may be trans but still in the closet and didn’t want to give himself away to his wife!
The day finished about 5:30 P.M. and the bedraggled 7 freshened up and then cooked up a BBQ with the provisions that Shana had procured. The night finished with a cosy discussion on all things trans with the usual plot playing out. Started young – secret dressing – purging – tried to be alpha male – relapse – purging – then give in to that irresistible urge and now loving it. Oh did I mention there was more wine?
The next morning Theresa cooked everyone breakfast of bacon and eggs before we cleaned up and dissolved into the country side. A few of us tried to have lunch at Wollombi Hotel but as soon as we saw all the big, black, hairy, leather clad bikies I insisted that we retire to fight another day and we proceeded to Bellbird Hotel and had a lovely meal before parting and heading home.
We all had a really great weekend and we forged solid friendships with sisters in kind that will stand the test of time.
Looking forward to another adventure soon, Perhaps a short cruise as Shana has suggested.
Hugs to all,
Fay

Deleted User11/08/2018 at 3:55 amThe Hunter Valley Wineries was a wonderful weekend getaway for us all, in reflection there was more firsts than I think everyone appreciates. Speaking personally my 2 firsts were meeting a partner who is supportive and encouraging, also going on a tour trip in the general community. For the travellers who joined us on the bus, I would say this was there first time being in close proximity to a flock of T-Girls for a full day. How many good or bad Pricilla jokes they told each other about us after the day was over will be one of those mysteries in life. I suspect the group of students we meet will be the ones who took the most positive experience away about the T-Girl community and who we are. The weekend ended up being a 4 day short holiday for me which I took full advantage as Rosemary. The Sunday trip home was not as I planned, a roadside sign read, Sunday Markets, Broke, 9 Minutes, why not! Although the markets were very small I was not disappointed, one stall had home-made soap of which I bought some Rosemary & Lavender goat’s milk scented soap and one other had a framed landscape oil painting in good condition for only $15. The artist, Vera Spicer, is a minor artist and a quick net search has her work selling around $100 to $300, what a bargain, and now where to hang it with all the other pictures I have. All in all it was a great weekend away and I will remember well for a long time. For those of you who were unsure about venturing out into the Hunter Valley take every opportunity you get to go out and enjoy yourself with the other ladies from TGR. I’ve added a couple of photos from the weekend, please enjoy.
