Hi Skye,
I too used to suffer from ingrown hairs rather badly in similar areas to you-but after some experimentation have almost solved my ingrown hair problems.
Firstly, when I shave I use hair conditioner as a shaving medium instead of normal creams/soap.I found the Pantene product to be the best for me.
Secondly, I use a body brush every morning in the shower which mildy exfoliates my torso and legs-I use a Ti Tree oil based face and body wash on the brush.
Thirdly, for my face, before I shave I use an Apricot scrub type of exfoliant-you may find something else which works for you.
Fourthly,moisturise a couple of times a day.
This regime isnt the be all and end all for me though as I still have some trouble with ingrown hairs, mainly around the bikini line and backs of the legs,BUT,only about five percent as bad as when I first started hair removal.
Havent tried the Nads product yet-I found a product in Priceline yesterday called Legole which I plan to try-not cheap at $27.00,but what part of our lifestyle is?Good Luck

Guest27/04/2008 at 8:29 amHi all
After going to a chemest for advice on the matter, it was explained that ingrown hairs were caused by the hair getting traped under the skin. Most ingrown hair creams use Salicylic acid but are expenive when buying in the quanties need for us TGirls.
So he worked out that a shampoo for Scalp problems has 2% Salicylic acid and is heaps cheaper then the creams.
He adviced me to wash then turn the water off, rubb this shampoo into my body (dont do face but) for 5 + mins, then wash off.
This will not fixthe ingrown hair that are already there but it cuts down the amount you get in the future.
It basicly removes oil and dead skin from the pours of the skin, which causes the ingrown hairs.
This seems to work for me but too a month or more to see the effects as it did not fix the ingrown hairs that had already started.
I dont prefess to know it all but it works for me.
The Shampoo I use is Sebitar by Ego, can be found at the chemist for 500lms for just under $20.00 and last a long time. I use it every second day.

Guest29/04/2008 at 8:27 amHi Girls,
I thought I would add my 2 cents worth on this cursid problem. I have tried everything with little success. I am plagued with it being worst on my bum and lets face it who likes hair there. I do find how ever that isocol in a green bottle used after exfoliating with a loafa helps a little. I will try the other remedies suggested thank you. keep the ideas comming I need all the help I can get.
thanks

Guest12/02/2010 at 3:42 amHello All,
Yes been there and still fighting the dreaded ingrowns.
I have recently stumbled on to two things you might like to try.
The first one has been around forever and can be easily picked up at most chemists, it is called “Silky Mit”, basically it is fine sandpaper that you gently rub over your skin. This removes the hair and exfoliates at the same time but try a small area first, be gentle, don’t try to do too much too quick, I have heard some horror stories and I advise having some aloe vera on hand to apply after, this stung when I applied it to my stomach where I was having ingrown problems, but only for a little while then smooth hairless skin, on my legs it didn’t hurt at all. This other one I haven’t tried but the testimonials sound very promising, the only bad reports are burning from incorrect use and the smell of burning hair. The device is call “No No Hair” you can check it out yourself here http://www.no-no.com.au/

Guest12/02/2010 at 10:11 amSeems a common problem which may actually be Keratosis Pilaris which basically is your bodies having trouble getting rid of dead skin, which in turn will trap new hair as it grows resulting in ingrown hairs.
This is what I do now and it has significantly reduced ingrown hair for me.
1. Exfoliate – as it happens, some pimple reducing products have 2% Salicylic acid, which is what you need to help remove the dead skin and oil. I use a product called Oxy Body Wash and Oxy Body scrub but there are other pimple products that have the same ingredients. Look in the pimple remedy section of most super markets or Price Line stores (not the mens shaving section).
Wet yourself in the shower, turn the water off, then apply the body wash or body scrub. leave it on for a few minutes… use a lofa if desired. Then wash off.
2. Moisturise – something that will hydrate your skin on the outside
3. Drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin from the inside.
This want help ingrown hairs already there but will prevent new ones. Try leaving your hair grow for a month or so and then start again using the above method.
It may not work for everyone but I’m happy so far.

I can relate to Lucie’s advice, particularly wetting yourself in the shower, turning off the water and then applying body wash/ body scrub.
More recently, I have come to realise that the key ingredient is the physical process of exfoliation, which is best done with exfoliating gloves. Nowadays, I simply use the exfoliating gloves with soap (lots of it).
Exfoliating gloves, which can be bought from any chemist, are very abrasive, however a gentle massage of all your skin for 2 -3 minutes, which creates a fine foam from the soap takes off virtually all dead skin cells leaving your skin very clean and smooth.
When I sense that I may be getting a few hair pores clogged, as a matter of urgency I will pour a desert spoon of salt into my gloved hand and then gently rub that all over with soap for a minute or two.
Then wash off and let the skin dry – the skin can get very itchy for 10 – 15 minutes as it drys out, but this really opens up the pores in a useful way. The itch is stopped in its tracks by rubbing in moisturiser or sorbeline cream (I understand that sorbeline is the key ingredient in moisturisers, and it’s relatively cheap). Besides, it’s best to moisturise all over after exfoliating this way.
