  Transgender rights debate is ‘risky strategy’

  Director of RedBridge Group Simon Welsh says the “values signal” debate around transgender rights is a “risky strategy” for the Morrison government in the upcoming election.

  Mr Welsh said voters from the centre-right will be looking to other issues in the upcoming election.

  “We don’t have an appetite to discriminate against trans people,” he told Sky News Australia.

  “But in the mainstream, I think it’s a very risky strategy.”
