TgR Wall Forums Exploring Gender Religion and gender Spiritual Transgender

    Hi girls
First thread so hope no one finds it offensive or too personal but I figure we discuss sex and politics here so why not this.
I was just interested in opinions on transgender and spiritualism. Please note that I did not say religious beliefs. I was curious as to whether other girls see this balance of gender ID as a gift or part of a growing awareness of feminine energy. Many people believe that the world in general will begin to embrace feminine energy and its nurturing aspects as a way to heal the world of many of its woes. I personally have had several gg’s in my circle reinforce this theory and have read this in many books. Any thoughts? :D

Well the religious debate has been done over and over and depending on which “Good Book” you read depends on the slant and phase. Lets not recap those, there are well debated (in agreement mostly) threads already.

I fundamentally beleive, (if there is a supreme being) that everyone was made in It’s image. So if males and females are made in the image of the being – then they are only half the being each. Whereas an Intersexed person like me is closer to the comprehensive Same Image.

As my partner says, if I had been left as I should have been, and setting aside whether I could carry child to full term and deliver and any medical complications (besides DNA and Genetics), then I could probably impregnate myself and in effect create a new Gene Pool. Whether this would carry down the IS Mosaic structure is totally unknown.

Lets assume it does. That would mean my children would be capable of self reproduction too.

Puts a new twist on “If you were the only man or woman left alive on the earth, what would you do” I’d have a child or two and repopulate the earth with nice people :)

Spiritually, I believe in the Universe at it’s largest. That all past is written and can’t be changed, and the future is like a maze of maths – all pre-written, but you can choose, and like any maze, there are intersects to change direction – and yes, you can go backwards, but not in time, only in destiny.

I also believe in PAY IT FORWARD and Karma.

Now on the them eof energy, there are some interesting projects around Like the GLOBAL ORGASM project that was held a year ago. There is one planned for 2008

    http://www.globalorgasm.org/

This comes from scientific research at the Global Consciousnesses Project who have sensors around the world in heavily populated areas that detect increases in energy. So when events like September 11 occurred, there were distinct spikes GLOBALLY, and when Lady Dianna was killed.

    http://noosphere.princeton.edu/

As you can see this is no Hippy in the Forest counting number of orgasms, this is Princeton University with a very scientific decade of collected data.

    Anyway, just food for thought.

I’m neither spiritual nor religious I am just me. Sometimes we seem to spend too much time and energy looking for some higher meaning and universal truth, which does not exist or, if it does, serves no practical purpose. If people feel that spirituality and religion help them get through the ups and downs of life all well and good. Having found a good degree of acceptance as to who and what I am (more feminine than masculine) means I don’t have any interest, apart from a purely academic one, in searching for things that can never be proven. Feelings of spirituality seem to be a man-made thing – why should we more spritual than a mouse or a giraffe…maybe it’s just that our higher brain function gives us more imagination. Who can prove that that the average mouse isn’t intensely spiritual and whose energy influences the whole of mousedom? At the end of the day it’s just another form of faith and perhaps I’m just missing something because I’ve read too many science books. I just don’t see anything “out” there and looking for some force that guides and controls us shortchanges our own abilities to cope with life, others and the ever-changing world.

As for feminine energy healing the world – this seems a big ask. I do think that more females in economically powerful positions would make for a better world. Society not continually reinforcing cultural, gender and religious stereotypes would be a more constructive step in fixing the world.

Interesting reply Karen and certainly food for thought. Your belief that there is nothing outside the physical that we see is in itself a ‘belief’. As with all beliefs I certainly acknowledge it and respect it. Your mouse analogy is interesting as you are correct in many ways as animals have the ability to live in the now, take only what they need, carry out their existence without fear or wanting more and never show aggression for its own sake. Sounds exactly like the kind of traits many spiritual practitioners strive for to gain enlightenment. I think the human problem is not our analytical mind but rather ego.
The feminine energy theory simply looks at the more positive feminine trait of nurturing and applying that energy to political and social reform. The more masculine traits of dominating and controlling and aggression have certainly failed us so far. I don’t think anyone is suggesting that female domination is the key as that would swing the pendulum too far the other way.

Funny isnt it, that you could have all the scientific knowledge in the universe but if you have a lack of faith, you feel as empty as the cosmos…

I had a friend who, in his youth, spent his weekends seeking out the meaning of life and where he fitted in the universe – but I have never been such an active seeker of spiritual sustenance. Well not yet. However, I’m still steeped in and I try to adhere to the Methodist ethics and values though not their missionary zeal and, on the census form, I still tick the Uniting Church box.

I have never considered myself fortunate or unfortunate to be transgendered. I do not believe I am a better personal for being TG – nor do I believe I have any special gift of female insight and understanding – nor do I think a shift towards femaleness will solve the world’s problems

Strangely though, in female mode, I wear a gold crucifix of the Catholic variety and this crucifix has become my only permanent jewelry accessory. I started wearing it after I defined what kind of woman I am [or maybe ‘would have been’ is more accurate ]. And you can call it role playing or fantasizing or whatever but I thought I ought to have a story to tell. Anyway as part of this defining of my background as a female – I decided I was a Catholic.

Somehow I consider Catholicism to be a more female oriented denomination – maybe it’s elevation of The Virgin Mary – or the more decorative trappings – or maybe it’s those orders of cloistered nuns. Or perhaps I’ve just watched ‘The Quiet Man’ and seen Maureen O’Hara dragged across those Irish fields by the scruff of her neck once or twice too often. Or maybe I just fancy going to Mass dressed to the nines – but is this spiritual? I don’t know – but I won’t go out dressed without my crucifix around my neck.

This appears to be a common misconception in the ‘feminine energy’ theory.

    – nor do I think a shift towards femaleness (sic) will solve the world’s problems –

It is not suggesting a wholesale change to all things female. It is about drawing on the positive traits of feminine energy such as nurturing and introspection in order to achieve positive social change. Even the most macho male has feminine energy, conversely the most feminine woman have masculine energy. It is about finding the balance of the two. At present world power is very much dominated by masculine energy.

Thanks Chrissy – I guess I have no real understanding of what feminine and masculine energies are and how they might be balanced. So I won’t make any comment.

However, I think you are linking transgenderism into this spiritual positive feminine energy theory. To me this is just a new take on posts I’ve read elsewhere in which trannies ascribe all their humane, nurturing and caring traits to their enhanced femininiity. To me this is simply misguided and unnecessary self justification.

Its all just sugar and spice and all things nice and frogs and snails and puppy dogs tails – at an adult level.

To add my little bit here:
I feel a swing in humanity’s attitude towards the “feminine” would produce some positive effects . Like the vast majority of barbaric acts like genocide, war, murder ,violent crime etc are perpatrated by males .
If men were to become more feminine would’nt there be less of this distastefull behaviour in this O’l world ? Or is someone going to argue that if men didnt behave so badly , women would just act out this way in their place ? I think not but …
To me feminisation of humanity would have some real benefits …

thanks for agreeing ! I quite often get quite absorbed in what could happen ( for the better ) if women were the dominant half of the species. Now having said “domiinant half” I guess soem will now say ‘what makes you think they arent ‘ but I think you get my drift !
