    Vampi,

That is a great idea, and as there are resources/shops quoted on TR, then perhaps they would happily show the sticker. if approached

    Hugs

    Just a thought….

Sweetpea, dont you mean ‘Crossdresser Friendly’?

In my real world, I wear dresses, skirts and tops everyday and expect equitable treatment and pricing from stores when I do shop. And when I dont, which is an extremely rare occurrence, I take my dollars elsewhere, which in the current financial climate, seems to be prized by most shopkeepers when I enter their stores.

There are even traders out there who are tranny indulgent, who will go out of their way in an effort to make a sale, to the point of bending over backwards to get you what you need as quick as they can get it for you. Some, like Tracey, from Designs by Tracey http://designbytracey.com.au/ started out in business when she couldnt buy what she wanted to attend Mardigras in support of her gay son is a great example of these kind of people. They can be found everywhere, if only one took a look and/or listened in their local community.

In my book, if you dont walk out of a store displaying such behaviour as this, you are getting robbed and deserving of it for tolerating such, perpetuating such poor merchant behaviour.

Oh, and obviously, you dont ever read any of my posts because they are all about helping other transpeople……

    Hi Vampi
The sticker idea is great, the G&L mob did a similar thing a few years back and you can still seem them around today, just look for the rainbow flag on the a shop window or the entry door of the premises, anything to get us more visible is a good thing.
As regards to traders anyone in business who has half a brain would bend over backwards to give you first class service as the dominant male patriarch still has the higher wage and a greater amount of disposable cash and if they don’t then its their loss move to the next shop.

    Cheers

I would tend to look for a rainbow flag logo. As an assurance that the business is Tranny Friendly as well as others in the Queer Community.

Mainly, I use ebay for my clothes and shoes as I live in a country town. Not much variety in the plus sizes in the stores here anyway.

Last trip to Sydney, I didn’t have any problems or embarrassment looking through K-Mart or Target for day to day wear (in male mode). In fact, as long as you pay for everything they can’t discriminate. Of course you need to know your sizing. Didn’t use the change rooms.

Bought some nice hosiery and Clinique “take the day off” Makeup remover, which works a treat in Myer.

Locally, I have often taken a ladyfriend with me to buy make-up. Sometimes in Big W, just bought what I wanted with no strange looks. That includes hosiery and make-up.
All in all, more concerned about running into someone I work with, rather than what the serving wench or checkout chick thinks.

    😉

I would of thought a seahorse logo would do but thats my view does nto mean i right:))
Intersting i tried raisign this dea when i first joined tranny radio and felt it upset others so let it slide.
As I was just coming out at the time it occured to me how wonderful it would be to be able to walk along see the log and think well i can hop here dressed male or female and know there accpetig and understanding. i FEEL ITS A GREAT IDEA to have stickers and if every one in the community approached plces they shop and know accept them then it would be a good start . wHILE BUYING ONLINE IS GREAT NOTHING BEATS BUYING instore liek all woman like ot and ia agree wit hvampi we are sisters n this community

I like shopping for myself in shops rather than shopping by mail order or on E-Bay. I don’t have any problems with sales people, their thoughts/views etc are irrelevant as they are sellers, not moralists and I woud say that 99 out of a hundred times they don’t care.

The idea of a sticker advertising Tranny Friendly shops is a win for both the shops and for us. Perhaps an approach to the shops already mentioned in TR as being Tranny friendly would be a great start, leading to other shops coming on board.

    Food for thought!

I find it’s best to get all dressed up in your nicest dress and just go shopping. There is nothing better to go into a shop and to be able to try on the outfit you have found right there and then. Nothing worse then to buy something as a male and to get it home and find out it dosn’t fit or suit and then your stuck with either putting it into the back of the wardrobe hoping you will fit in it some day or taking it back and try to explain why your wife dosen’t like it knowing all the time that the shop assistant has her suspections who it was for in anycase. I have never had any problom when I go shopping so why do we need a badge to lable us as trannies but ladies doing what ladies like to do best

    Hi Cybil

so why do we need a badge to lable us as trannies ?

The reason for this is 2 fold:

    1. It raises awareness and curiosity in the general community.
    2. It gives new girls and girls who lack confidence a sense of security and knowledge that they will recieve a half decsent welcome.

    hope that helps

I buy things because I want them and am prepared to get them from wherever. I tend to agree more with Mari rather than Rhiannon – if I’m disatisfied with the service I go elsewhere and I don’t really desire another label for protection, security or peace of mind.

To date all shopkeepers have gladly accepted my tranny dollars – which appears to have the same exchange rate as the local currency.

I can see where you’re coming from Vampi – many girls are simply to shy to shop so it may be of help to some girls – seems a bit like going to Seahorse, the need for some security is good in the beginning but them you grow out of it.

    HiRhioannon
    Sorry I don’t agree
I feel there is already a lot of awarness in the public at present, we have been put out there by the press, TV and Hollywood for years and I don’t think we need to arouse the curosity of the public either as I feel we would like to be accepted in public as a person and not a freak show. I feel for those who find shopping in public hard but I cant see putting a badge on them will make them feel any better but more self conscience about being labled and frankly the shop keeper just doesn’t care
