TgR Shutdown
All members registered on TgR should have received an email over the last few days. But in case any went walkabout, this is what the email said:
We have reached a momentous time in the history of TgR.
30 years ago, in the early years of the Internet, I developed a simple website called “Crossdressing in Australia”. This developed to feature a section called “Tranny Radio” where I collected profiles of a few other Australian ‘girls’. Soon TrannyRadio became a website in its own right, and by the turn of the century it hosted over 400 profiles. The site reached its peak membership of 728 girls in 2011, and rebranded as TgR, it continued to the present day, albeit with declining membership. TgR didn’t just provide contacts for members. It collected useful information in its forums, and organised events in Sydney.
Much of what made the site relevant in the early years of this century is no longer compelling. It has been clear for some time now that TgR has reached the end of its useful life. That is not to say that people don’t use the website, but rather that the usage no longer justifies the cost of maintaining and updating a proprietary site. Like the website, I’m getting old, and I don’t want ill health to result in TgR just becoming neglected and lost. I want to organise a shutdown properly and give the site a dignified farewell as befits its long history.
So I am now planning to switch off TgR at the end of the year.
I know this may come as a disappointment to some, but change is inevitable. This is what is going to happen:
Forums: The 16,000 posts in the public forums are going to be archived to preserve them for social historians. Initially, the posts will be transferred to a Dropbox with a password shared with the current TgR members and academics.
Messaging: All member email addresses and private messaging will be permanently deleted when the site closes down. If you have been messaging other members through the website, you will potentially lose contact with them. Now is the time to ask your TgR contacts to share their email address with you.Albums: All member photograph albums will be permanently deleted when the site closes down. If you have pictures on the website that you haven’t backed up, then they will be lost. Download anything important from the website now.
Glebe Nights: Tanya’s Glebe nights each month will continue. But they won’t be organised through TgR in 2027.
And then… THE PARTY
TgR deserves a big farewell. So we are going to have a BIG party in Glebe to celebrate. Members past and present will be invited. The details will be publicised soon. But for now just save the date – Friday 20th November.

Although I have only been a member for 2 years now .Im very sorry to see the site shutdown.
Thank you for all your hard work and updates over the years .
