From the FabSugar site, suggestions that we should all have one of these in our wardrobe as go to items:

    1. The Little Black Dress
    2. A Classic Shirt Dress
    3. The Colorful Daytime Maxi
    4. The Sexy Sundress
    5. The Wrap Dress
    6. The Little White Dress
    7. A Statement-Making Party Dress
    8. The Ladylike Knee-Length
    9. The Flirty Floral Dress
    10. The Go-To Evening Dress

What do you think? How does YOUR wardrobe stack up?

My thoughts? This list may be well and good, but I guess it all depends on what sort of lifestyle you live. If you don’t party much, you’ll not need #7. Or even if you do party occasionally, you may not want to make a bold statement (maybe you’re more happy blending in). But otherwise, hey, nice to have at least one of these tucked away, ready to go! And it’s a good guide to remember whenever we hit the sales racks.

    Happy styling!

Compared to that list, my dresses wardrobe doesn’t.

Well my wardrobe certainly does not stack up.

Boy do I need some funds to go shopping with if this is what I need to get.

Probably someone with some fashion sense too to guide me wouldn’t go a stray either.

Oh well all a dream. (For now anyway).

Ok – I passed up on the need for something “sexy” or “flirty”.
    And white…what a liability!!!
    Sad – but true.
That leaves me at 6 out of 10…and hardly a great excuse to hit the frock shops this weekend!

Amanda – I agree – I think the descriptors used are a little on the exaggerative side of things (hey, it’s a fashion/beauty/celebrity web site), but I think the basic concepts still apply.

There are some who may disagree, but generally, there’s nothing like a sun dress on a sunny summer’s day! It doesn’t HAVE to be “sexy”, of course.

As for white – well, this is a summer option too, naturally, and I guess some of that liability you mention can be diminished by what sort of accessories (belts/bags/shoes/scarves) you coordinate with – camel, tans and browns seem to be very popular at the moment. White coordinates well with navy and red too, not to mention a smart patent belt. White can be worn for a very smart look.

About floral dresses (flirty or otherwise), these seem to be very popular at the moment too – check out Peggy Olsen in Mad Men for a vintage look. Mind you, all of these “must haves” suggestions seem to be in line with current trends with the warming up of the Northern Hemisphere.

And granted, you may not be like others – for some, hitting the shops at any time seems to be a worthy exercise – even just for a look!

Well you may well call me a TART (but dont call me that if your trying to insult me)but I think you forgot one of my favorites (though technically not a dress)
    The sexy school uniform.
I have had more use (fun) with that “dress” than any other.

I am proud to admit that I have 9/10 of those items. But that is only because I trashed the plastic in Sydney this W/E with a style consultant.

I am now much enriched but financially poorer. Hey but that is life – develop your own skills or pay to use the skills of someone else.

Happy shopping ( I loved it)

I don’t know what it is about black, maybe because its slimming and always looks timeless.. Black will do for me anytime
