Its been a slow process encouraging members of the old TgR website to login and join us on the new site. I’ve lost count of the number of emails I’ve responded to from members who wanted help getting started.

So it was gratifying to see that we passed the 300 mark today – over 300 of our members have made the leap over to the new site.

Of course that leaves a couple of hundred to go.. so we can only wonder when the transfers will all finish!

I suspect there is a benefit in that this process will potentially filter out those members who have been inactive for a very long time and probably won’t reappear.

True. I’ve never chased the numbers with TgR. Always preferred to have a virtual community that was active. So the move will certainly see a drop in the headline numbers but I hope will also bring in more new members.

Difficult to imagine a “benefit”!! resulting from “filtering out”!! members who have been inactive for a long time.
I just heard of a case last night concerning someone who had been to many TgR events and who has been absent for a long while from TgR but at least i now know the circumstances and understand her situation

I’m sure members in these sorts of situations want to remain in touch ..lets just hope they sort things out favourably for that to happen

I don’t think it is a hard ask to expect everyone to log into the web site once a year. Many of the members who haven’t transferred over to the new site hadn’t accessed the old site for 9 months. So I expect most have just lost any interest in being involved. Purging has the benefit of not loosing the active interested members in a sea of uninterested unresponsive dead accounts. And there is no barrier to rejoining if you come back from the wilderness!

I expect that I was just reacting to a post that I perceived as a bit cold and clinical concerning inactive members.
