    Hi all

Such was the headline in the “Melbourne Age” last week.

    http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/exhibition/masterpieces-from-the-hermitage/

So this Thursday, (as if I’m in any way game enough to do it), Caty could rock up to the National Gallery of Victoria and be asked to be let in free.

Remembering my “penchant” for female period dress, plus the fact the photo on the paper had Catherine the Great in a 17th century gown just like Lady Catherine’s, (see my TGR profile), Caty should get in for free on multiple occasions!.

Any other Catherine’s or derivatives thereof out there going to give it a try???

Tho proof of ID to get in could be a worry…

    Regards

    Caty.

PS The only part of the exhibition that really interests me is the “Hermitage” bit. Preferably a lovely aged Hunter Shiraz, back when they used to call it Hermitage…

Having just been lucky enough to visit the Hermitage in St Petersburgh, You will need to add a bit more to the shedour to carry off the Catherine the Great comparison.

The palace is huge and the artworks and furnishings are amazing. I am sure you would have loved to have some of the dresses Catherine the Great wore. I was envious myself.

    Glad you enjoyed the day.

    Thanks Di,

Just to clear up any confusion, I did not attend either as the male me or
    as “Lady Catherine”…

However, as you know it’s not so long back that “Lady Catherine” did appear in her “Sheduior” and you are 100% correct, it’s other function as a fully equipped “Man Cave” may not compare well to Catherine The Great’s palace in St Petersburg..

But then I’ll bet there are no signed posters of AFL premiership teams and players or a custom built bar in her “Sheduior”. So there………

We’ll ignore the reality that the AFL did not exist in her day. Why ruin a good story with facts!!!!

I was lucky myself visiting the Hermitage, many years ago before the fall, it was a very different society back then. I’m told it is much friendlier now. As you said the palace was so magnificent.

Very different now to the old soviet era. The place was crowded with visitors. St Petersburgh has all the shops we take for granted in our cities but the names are all in Russian lettering.

I have added a picture of one of Catherine’s dresses on display. I think Caty will have to widen the old shedoiur doors to wear this one!

Half way true Di about the width of the Sheduior doors, as I’ve said. most of my Caty time is in the AKA Man Cave.

But that dress with me in it would fit through the main roller door, a fishing boat with a 2 metre beam has to… Only trouble with that is if the “Neighbour from Hell” was doing her usual “constant observations”, the whole district would know about it within an hour…

So the “test” rally aint worth it.
