Following on from the excellent “My Transsexual Summer” series, ABC2 is continuing its tg friday nights with two more different documentaries about trans men.

The first, on Friday 9 November 2012 at 9:30 is “Sam And Evan: From Girls To Men”. This is the story of how Sam and Evan met, fell in love, and embarked on a remarkable transgender journey together to transform their bodies from Girls to Men.

Thanks for the info Angela, I’ll totally be watching those.

It’s unfortunate how they get picked on. I don’t even know how people clock them to be honest, Sam and Evan just look like two young blokes.

Angela thanks for posting about these docos. I’ve watched all the episodes of ‘My TS summer’ a number of times & found it really worthwhile. I also got my mum to watch it & she learnt a lot, she’s actually coming on the Seahorse Christmas cruise as a result of her new found interest in my being Tg. She has also watched these other two docos, as have I. Both were very interesting but I particularly found last nights one to be very helpful for my partner.
There is also a drama series on the ABC called ‘Hit & Miss’ in which the main character Mia, is a TS person. The theme to the show is most definitely drama & displays both visually & in the story line the reality of being a Tg person. It possibly won’t be to every bodies liking but at least it shows the humanness of Tg people, good & bad.
Also last week I watched ‘Kitchen Cabinet’ again on the ABC. The guest was a Senator from WA (can’t remember her name right now). She is a lesbian activist & her partner unbeknown to her at the time of entering the relationship is a Tg person who has now transitioned FTM. The issue was discussed in a very sensible manner without any sensationalism or hype.
All of these programmes are available to watch on iView for 14 days after airing.

I have, with my wife been transfixed with the ABC 2 docos, My Transsexual Summer and the latter F2M episodes. All are well worth watching and so well done. Last nights segment on the 16 year old schoolboy was particularly poignant and what a supportive mother, a Saint I would say. Last weeks ‘Kitchen Cabinet’ was an interview with Senator Louise Pratt (WA). Her relationship with her partner was treated in my view with the normality it deserved. Perhaps the media has, at last turned a significant corner in the presentation on facets of transgenerism.

Liz, thanks for advising of the senators name & yes you are quite right, ‘normality’, that is how the subject was rightly dealt with.
I mentioned that last nights programme was helpful for my partner, it was in fact because of the mothers supportive attitude to her child. It had a strong impact on my partner, witnessing the unconditional love & support.
