  • airports – advice when travelling in girl mode

As some of you know, I work at an airport as a security guard and it amazes me the clothing that people wear to go onto planes.
Now this is not a case of whether or not the clothing looks good, its a case of the impractical clothing that people have on.
Plenty of eople go through security in very tight restrictive clothing which isnt terribly smart (in the event of plane troubles and if an evacuation is required) but they wear clothing with plenty of metal too and while there are some variations in airport rules all over the world, one thing pretty much in common is that you have to pass through a metal detector at some point.
For any t-girls that wish to travel in girl mode, dont make the mistake of what I saw happen the other day.
A woman came through (GG) and she was wearing a dress and after she set off the metal detector, the guard on duty sent her back to try to get her to remove all the metal that she could in order to clear her which ultimately wasnt able to be sufficient.
It turns out she was also wearing a corset under her dress and that was setting off the metal detector so as she obviously couldnt take it off in the main screening area so 2 female guards were organised and she was taken off to a private room and she was subsequently cleared.
Now while a corset is fine in itself, you will save yourself a lot of hassle if you dont wear one (or anything with plenty of metal) if you go to fly.

For domestic flights within australia, there are no liquids, aerosols or gels restrictions so makeup is fine to take.
The only thing that security will check for in your bags (other than any sharp and/or metal items) is aerosols and that is only that they have a lid and that they are not punctured.
Corsets are fine in your bag, it would only be a possible issue if you are wearing it.
If you are in doubt, put it in your checked bag and you’ll be fine (assuming you are travelling on a ticket that allows checked bags)
