This is an interesting series, follow this and the later episodes (about 10 minutes each). Jo Ann was famous and founder of several mags but she was also a NASA engineer.

The tapes are old but all the usual issues are there. There is not much talk of transgender as such and the focus is mainly on “crossdressing” a term I don’t like much. It did take me back to a time when I did not understand the reasons why I dressed within the early stages of my journey. However, one can always learn something new and there is a section where a dance instructor show some “ladies” how to dance like a female; that was something I had not thought about before. With the Transformal coming up, that may be useful information.

In one of the later episodes there is a story about one person who discovers that his son is also a crossdresser and they go out together.

Where did you find these? My heavens. Way back in the day when JoAn had her magazines, Lady Like I was approached via other people to be a correspondent for a new mag she was starting. ‘International TRANscript’, she needed someone to be an Australian contact. I was flattered at the time as I had been doing some writing for various groups and had been published but I later found out I was the third choice!!! **LOL**
The other two had passed on it, one of whom, a well known, established mainstream journalist was also a friend and she suggested me as a possible. So for a fleeting time I was a photo journalist for an international magazine.
JoAnn was wonderful, always had tome to answer questions or give help as I needed it, and believe me I needed it!
    Sadly missed.

Thanks Martina. I’ve watched the first 6 parts and found them fascinating. Jo Ann and some of the others looked fantastic but talk about a parade of old fashioned fashions and old fashioned attitudes. We really have come a long way.

    Hi Martina,

I see from our postcodes that we are neighbours.

You mentioned that you were interested in women’s dance steps. I went to Rainbow Tango in Oxford Street and learned both men and women’s steps:

I learned the Tango moves but not the classic Tango, so decided to switch to the milonga at Tattersalls Club in Pitt Street, Monday nights.

The instructor at The Columbian, Violet is a sweetie, and the trainees were friendly.

Do you plan to go to Katoomba in May?

    All the Best,

    Rob
