Thanks Christina. As well as enjoying the pictures and shuddering at the questions I clicked on a link offered to April Ashley’s photo album. That really took me back to my early days but it’s another story.

Yes the questions were a bit ropey but it was 1980 and it was the first time Trans woman had been on the show. I thought that the host’s questions were well meant though.

Has anything changed? Recalling the John Oliver clip posted in June the interviewers want to ask the same questions and are so hung up on what might or might not be under the interviewee’s dress. It is as if the audience need to relive the scene from a Crying Game again and again and again.

Yet what is striking is the dignity that the women bring to the interview the patience they show.
