I couldn’t find this clip anywhere here so I thought I would share. Calpernica Adams stars with a lighthearted view on some of the questions she has been asked over the years.
    Warning: Contains strong language.

On a more serious note those who are transitioning should note the way she uses her voice, facial expression and gestures. Seriously good just from that perspective. She is one awesome chick IMHO.

I like it. I like the point – treat me like a person and don’t put me in a box. Most of the folks who ask such dumb questions do not even know that they are even discriminating at such a fundamental level. “Do you ask your asian friends if they know the guy who served you lunch” They actually probably do…. I don’t know if I should be depressed or just laugh it off.

No point in getting depressed over it. :)

I disagree with some of the points she makes. I agree with one part, and then she goes and fills it out so I no longer agree or even feel she is denigrating others on a slightly different journey. But it is all in good fun (in a sarcastic manner) and from her point of view.

She is a wonderful lady and has accomplished so much. It’s just that sometimes she comes across as portraying that she is “superior” to others who do not live up to her standards of what “we” as transgendered people should be doing.

I first saw this clip a long time ago. Some of the points she makes still hurt and others make a lot of sense. I really had the feeling that she had an axe to grind when she made this. And not only with the “straight” community. She has a few barbs for those of us who don’t fit into her ideal as well.

She wrote the TS road-map, but I will keep taking the off road route.
