  • Bradly Manning is revealed to be gender diverse

The Washington Post has reported that the US soldier Bradly Manning, who leaked government files to WikiLeaks, was dealing with a lot of issues at the time. Whilst Bradly was serving in Baghdad, he sent an email to his superior to tell him he was suffering from a gender-identity disorder. Attached to the email was a photograph of him as a woman.

Bradley, it transpires, had taken on a masculine role in the military in the hope that it would “cure” his gender identity issues. This is a pattern of behaviour that will be familiar to many of us. As Bradley stated at the sentencing portion of his trial:

    Quote:
I thought enlisting in the military would get rid of it … I’ve been trying very, very hard to get rid of it. It’s haunting me more and more as I get older. Now the consequences are getting harder

Although Bradley was on the verge of a mental breakdown his supervisors did not help him, or remove him from Iraq.

I already felt sympathy for Bradley. Now I really do. Never mind all the issues we can relate to, he sends a cry for help to a supervisor while dealing in highly classified information and they don’t move him into a less sensitive position or adjust his level of clearance until his issues are checked out. So whose fault was it that he cracked and leaked?

I really feel sorry for Bradley. the military top dogs already hated him for what happened, 80 life sentences I believe Bradley is facing for all the accounts of “treason”, and now with this they will have a field day with him if he goes to military prison.

    Sentenced to 35 years :-(

To me Manning, like Assange, are modern day heros. Our governments act on our behalf. We as normal people expect our governments to act in a humanitarian way when dealing with people from different cultures and backgrounds. The evidence of this is the lies being told for the reasons to go to war. If we were told the truth, rape of a country’s resources, so the rich can get richer. Destruction of a countries economy and destitution of its people so that the Zionist state can expand unchallenged. Perhaps we as decent, caring human beings would rise up against our government’s policies.

If you live in a western democracy, and the media is corrupt, and you are not told the truth, you cannot make value decisions based on humane justice. We are denied democracy

I was not aware that Manning was a CD. It makes more sense to me now why he did what he did. His feminine nurturing side rejected what was happening to the people of Iraq. He felt the need to bring this to world attention.

Unfortunately in our society boys are brainwashed to deny their feminine side. Well rounded and complete people do not make good killing machines.

I find Manning’s story heart wrenching. In his position I would have done the same.

If anyone wishes to understand the world and it’s people better without the western spin, it’s hard to beat the reporting of “Press TV” Still available on the internet but slowly being removed from all European satellite providers. I guess it’s dangerous to let the truth out. The thing I like is how they regularly attempt to bring both sides of the story to you and let you decide which is right and which is wrong.

For 15 years, at every opportunity, I travelled in the middle east at street level. Usually in Feb. with a lonely planet guide in one hand and a set of skies in the other. It 2001 I married, in Istanbul my Persian wife that I met climbing mountains in Iran. I’m sorry my first post is so political but this story runs close to my heart, and my Feminine ;-)

This is Tehran city estimated 18 million people…. nearly the population of Australia…… one city

Many of you may know that Bradley Manning has announced that he will in future be known as Chelsea Elizabeth Manning.
As Chelsea begins her 35 year sentence for telling the truth about US army regretful activities, she could use the help of us like-minded transgender girls.
You can write to her at the address below to offer your support.
Unfortunately mail cannot yet be sent to her under the name of Chelsea.
Or check out the support Bradley Manning website……

Although I sympathise with Chelsea, I feel that her crimes, that is sending classified material to Wikileaks were punishable. There were mitigating circumstances and those include the inability of her Superiors to recognise she was struggling and also that her struggles should have precluded her from being in such a position of responsibility.

She has received 35 years imprisonment and the founder of Wikileaks is still hiding in the Ecuadorian Embassy, flaunting his ‘untouchability’ and taking no responsibility for those who contribute to his Website and find themselves in trouble because of it.

I realise this view is contrary to other views within this thread, however I feel Chelsea has been badly let down by both Mr Assange and also by her employers, the US Army. She was confused, vulnerable and naïve, unfortunately she made a very choice and is now paying for it.

The word naïve describes the situation perfectly. It must be time to destroy another country, and it’s people, but who gives a fuck. Anyhow plenty of room for them to come and make a new live for themselves in Australia, and why not as we stand by and let it happen ………. let’s see who is next……….. get a map. Start a the Zionist run state of Israel…… and work around it……… Some people just don’t get it, despite its repetition. I find it hard to believe that predigest could exist here………… Don’t we experience enough of it ourselves……….. Don’t get me wrong…… I respect your right to have an opinion. Respect my right to reply :-)

What hasn’t been mentioned is the very different ideals the US military has compared with our military. They have a zero tolerance for Gays, Lesbians and TGs. Whereas the ADF has relaxed its previously draconian policies.

I have no criticisms of Manning, however the US’s policies are well know and are made clear to potential soldiers etc, so Manning’s decision to join was her own choice. That in itself wasn’t a real problem and there are many US Armed Forces personnel who hide their true sexuality. What decided Chelsea’s fate was sending classified data to Wikileaks…. That is unforgiveable as it could have cost US lives.

I do not agree with the US intervention in Iraq, but for a private to expose via a website others to a threat is not good. In fact it is criminal. I alsp question the effectiveness of her supervisors and also their ability to pick up on signs….

I hope Chelsea survives her ordeal, however she is a victim of a Superpower’s inability to demonstrate decent leadership and management

Pvt Chelsea Manning has been awarded the 2013 Sean MacBride Peace Award by the International Peace Bureau in recognition of her exposure of war crimes against humanity.
The medal was forwarded to her solicitor David Coombs and presented to her in prison.
Petition has been made for her early release and it is hoped she may only have to serve 8 to 10 years of a 35 year sentence.

    January 18th 2017

President Obama on Tuesday largely commuted the remaining prison sentence of Chelsea Manning, the army intelligence analyst convicted of an enormous 2010 leak that revealed American military and diplomatic activities across the world, disrupted the administration, and made WikiLeaks, the recipient of those disclosures, famous.

The decision by Mr Obama rescued Ms Manning, who twice tried to commit suicide last year, from an uncertain future as a transgender woman incarcerated at the male military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She has been jailed for nearly seven years, and her 35-year sentence was by far the longest punishment ever imposed in the United States for a leak conviction.

Now, under the terms of Mr Obama’s commutation announced by the White House on Tuesday, Ms Manning is set to be freed in five months, on May 17 of this year, rather than in 2045.

The commutation also relieved the Department of Defense of the difficult responsibility of her incarceration as she pushes for treatment for her gender dysphoria — including sex reassignment surgery — that the military has no experience providing.
