If you have brittle fingernails . . .

If you have brittle fingernails, try this to soften them up. Warm up
some baby oil and massage it into nails and cuticles. Do this
    procedure every other day.

Use a cuticle cream and a popsicle stick on your cuticles before you
    polish them.

Soaking your finger tips in vinegar after you trim them will help
kill bacteria and fungus. Doing this every time you trim should show
    cleaner looking nails

    Hi

I had brittle fingernails some time ago

I found an easy solution was to use a hand and nail cream

I use Boots hand and nail cream (Priceline)

I havent had a broken nail for some time and my nails look healthier and

grow about twice as fast also

    Hope this helps

I have been using Solar Oil on my nails and cuticles now for about two years. I swear by it. Unfortunately I am unsure as to wether it is available at Priceline or at pharmacies, as I purchased my bottle from a Beauty Salon in Newcastle. Another option is for hands and cuticles, Cutex 8 Hour Rescue Hand and Cuticle Emergency Treatment. It costs around $5.00 or so for a 75ml tube from Priceline. It helps to keep moisture in the hands and cuticles, which in turn helps your nails.

    Hi Girls,
All this advice is really good as long as you do what Judy mentioned about the cuticle cream and pop* stick before polishing.
I am a qualified nail technician, learnt my trade at Fuss, in Oxford St Paddington when I was living in NSW.
Basically you are all doing the same thing, just different lotions.
Regular cleaning of your nails is a must to avoid bacteria and fungus.
I have brittle nails and I use clear nail hardener, I find that really helps the nails from splitting.
Try and have an extensive professional manicure once in a while if you dont do it now, that really helps too.
    Hugs

How can I stop my nails breaking?

I get acrylic put onto the surface of my nails. When they grow they don’t split or tear. They need an infil about every three weeks. We could last longer but unfortunately we are not as careful with our nails as most GG’s so they will need the odd repair. I have lasted at least two weeks without repairs and I don’t consider myself careful with my nails. BTW, they don’t look shiny after being done as long as the nail technician buffs them.

If you talk to a nail tech at a beauty salon they will probably tell you ,need calcium. i had the same problem and i take 500 mgs of calcium a couple of times a week. this seems to help my nails from splitting and cracking. hope this helps.
