Since first venturing out nearly 18 months ago, I have always enjoyed shopping centres, cafes and the bliss of being a daytime city girl. One particular cafe I frequent, in my opinion, has the makings for a fine monthly TR event. The Azura Cafe is located in the historic Grace Brothers building, completed in 1923, spanning both sides of Bay Street Broadway.

Part of this grand structure is now the Sydney University Lodge which has a spacious common area large enough to sit over 40 people right next to the Austrian Azura Cafe, that can cater for all types of meetings and events. There seems to be no need for bookings here. Plenty of spare tables are available on Saturdays. There is a food court about 25 metres beyond the cafe providing amenities and ample additional space if needed.

This location is only one block away from our popular evening venue, the Well Connected cafe at Glebe.

My suggestion is a monthly brunch followed by a shopping workshop for newly out girls, who could do with a little girlfriend support, when buying clothes from stores and dealing with shop staff etc. The busy Broadway Shopping Centre has K Mart, Target and many specialty shops with 3 hours free parking.

As this is a new type of event for TR, Amanda, Carolyn and Bambi have said to post details in the events forum for members expressions of interest.

I’ll keep my eyes posted Louise! I’ve had to give up my restaurant nights recently but Saturdays are ok during the day normally and I can hang around until about 3.00 pm. before I’ll have to go home to bed for work. I like the idea too about some shopping time for new folks, plenty of people helped me make a start so there’s no reason why I can’t continue that tradition if possible.

    Yeah, I’m interested.
