Call me Caitlyn
Posted by Adrian on 02/06/2015 at 1:05 am‘I’m free’: Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce, makes her Vanity Fair cover debut

If you want to see a classic use of a pro makeover, photo shoot and airbrush to make a transgender woman into the tabloid image of perfect femininity go here:
In “the first picture of Caitlyn Jenner to be released publicly” we have yet another “unhappy man becomes female beauty” dream story.
Of course I’m only green with envy because they didn’t ask me to do the Vanity Fair cover 😆
The video that goes with the gam shot is actually worth a watch

Do I feel comfortable with it ? Answer yes. despite the fact that it is getting quite a bit of negative response from those who have IQ’s that are probably only two digits but nevertheless get airing.
It has apositive effect of raising the TG issue as something the public are talking about. Hungry media is feeding on this though obviously for as long is it can.Overall i think its good to have TG issues raised even though this one is highly overated compared to hundreds/thousands of others who have gone through similar circumstances in their lives.
Probably Caitlyn will make a lot of money out of it but i dont have a problem with that its her story and life media and therfore public seems to wants it so there.

Deleted User04/06/2015 at 7:09 amI saw this earlier and was gobsmacked at the attitude and their logic. Another can of worms for the IOC who have shown to be less than of pure heart as far as the organisation is concerned’
Caitlyn’s cover photo looks quite respectable, allowing for it appearing to be a bathing costume. Transgendered seems to be the new black at the moment.
Good luck to her, as has been mentioned it must be strange living in a goldfish bowl.

Guest04/06/2015 at 9:55 amI found this article about it interesting:

Another interesting follow up article from the SHM – showing how the Caitlyn show may not be all it seems.
Does Bruce Jenner’s transformation deserve the admiration it is receiving?

Quote:….
Indeed much of this week’s attention has been purely on the superficial, from the designer gowns Caitlyn wears in the shoot by Annie Leibovitz, to her choice in lipsticks and hair highlights.Once again our society’s priorities would appear a little off, but who wants to dwell on reality when you have reality TV stars to provide us with endless distractions?
Indeed it was a brave soul who dared to cast a critical, questioning eye over the media circus which for the past year or so brought us to this week’s “unveiling” of Caitlyn Jenner.
Then comes the real story that for some reason no one told us about….
Quote:But surely we should be just a tiny bit skeptical, as not all the motives here were totally altruistic. The Vanity Fair cover was the most recent in a long-line of highly orchestrated and manipulated media moments engineered by a team of media executives and publicists in the lead up to next month’s debut of a new reality television series starring, you guessed it, Caitlyn Jenner on the E! network, by the same team which brought us Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
No doubt all the attention Caitlyn has enjoyed will ensure the new show will be just as popular as any of the other Kardashian franchises……….Quote:…..But just don’t ask Caitlyn about double standards when it comes to gender equality. How many other 65-year-old women have graced the cover of Vanity Fair recently wearing racy lingerie recently? Helen Mirren, 69, hasn’t been given the honour. Meryl Streep’s most recent VF cover has the 65-year-old looking like a librarian rather than lascivious.
Indeed it was a New York Times reader who wrote one of the most insightful comments on the whole sideshow: “Apparently Jenner gets the male privilege of being considered desirable at an older age that is not given to those actually born a woman.”

Deleted User07/06/2015 at 12:29 pmThankfully the IOC petition has been rejected and Caitlyn gets to keep her medal.
I’m also appalled that people would suggest that this whole transition has been for publicity. This talk simply perpetuates plenty of tans acceptance issues.
As for poor Caitlyn now that she has had all the work done most people are just interested in how she looks. Welcome to the other side of the fence, where women are constantly judged on their appearance.

Guest07/06/2015 at 9:00 pmRe SMH article and how it would appear Ms Jenner’s cover shoot was all about pre publicity for a forthcoming “TV” series.
There had to be a “K”ardishan “K”atch somewhere.

I’ve been a bit of a cynic about Caitlyn but now I’m swinging over to feeling sorry for her. I mean she had a “committee” to select her new name. The poor soul has no control over her life.
