I have moved the comments on Amy Hamblin to a new thread as they neither have anything to do with TV&RADIO nor with Kate. please make an effort to stay on topic

I’ve just watched an episode of Q&A on ABC. One panellist was Group Captain Catherine McGregor,RAAF Reserve, speech writer for Head of Air Force.
It looks like our Cate has survived the moving on of the Head of Army and continues to be a great role model and spokesperson for TG people. -
I watched the Q&A show also and admired Cate for being admirably articulate on both defence and transgender issues. Most of us are familiar with Cate and the journey she chose, very bravely, to undertake. If you have not already seen it, watch the One Plus One interview with Jane Hutcheon where Cate is conspicuous for both her bravery and her honesty.

Guest15/10/2014 at 9:38 amI was also very impressed with Cate’s performance on Q&A. Although I am not one for the military approach, I applaud the erudite and polite manner in which she answered the questions asked of her. A superior performance compared with many other Q&A panellists I have seen.

Guest16/10/2014 at 12:50 amI have said this else where the presence of Catherine on the Q&A program almost made it through without reference to trans issues. It would have been a major step forward if it were possible for that to have happened.
When transgender questions are no longer asked at every appearance of a trans person we will know we have been accepted. If you have watched carefully the end of the show you might notice that disappointment evident in her expression. To that point of the show it clearly demonstrated that trans has nothing to do with with a person’s ability . Maybe next time she will have the opportunity simply to be the person she is without question.

Guest17/10/2014 at 12:34 pmI think she wasn’t so much disappointed as exhausted by the whole thing. These were tales that she has told before, but not so much before a live TV audience. I think it can be a bit wearing going through the whole “this is how it happened” spiel.
She possibly thinks it’s time someone else came in as the new media trans* person in Australia.
