We’re a community like it or not!

There’s a certain amount of dissatisfaction among members of any community and that is expressed some way or another. . Commonly people will say nothing and dwell in the discontent, others will get a feeling of anger they will unleash on anyone who is listening. Some will decide to take a positive attitude and endeavor to rectify the problems that they see and others will simply be happy to find a community that relates to them.

Our community is not as the greater community built from birth to death. The members of the community USUALLY come to it after finding the greater human community fails to make an accommodation for them. It is often the case that the experience causes disfunction in normal life and it is great burden that the general population is not aware of nor does it experience. To questions your entire being as a man or a woman is a burden some can’t deal with and the results are tragic.

Our questions are our community foundation, there are as in any group , individuals who are inevitably going to believe that the understanding of the situation they have is the only one of value. Then like in any other community they set about justifying and solidifying their beliefs. In some ways coming out and not being destroyed as we often expect we will be builds confidence, in some, with anger and unfounded self belief in their own personal interpretation of events in their lives, comes a disruptive and destructive attitude to others. The attitude, I no everything and I have nothing to learn, , you will listen to me cause I know everything there is to know. Expert opinion with out expert knowledge can be a dangerous thing , if you judge on only a shard of evidence that is your own experience it will be found wanting.

Anyway I am going on a bit. From the perspective of an individual in the community who knows still all but nothing and , irrespective of weather I have or desire surgery I am still valid as a member of the community as we all are. I am and forever will be TRANSGENDER a member of the gender diverse community. I see a future with acceptance of the greater community through education and communication of our reality. The fragmentation that exists in THE GENDER DIVERSE COMMUNITY is as best I can assess a matter of egos and self interest , we would be well advised to go around the road blocks and move forward . There are more than enough positive voices to make us a normal part of the greater community in the near future.

A community of individuals with a common connection and a desire to ensure that there’s a future that’s better than the past . Positive people taking positive steps for a community of gender diversity because the past was not good enough!

    Hi Kristyana

This seems to be the problem in a lot of minority groups. Firstly not everyone is truelly in the same basket, however there aren’t enough people in the group (hence the minority) to be able to separate out the sub groups into their own group within the community.
Secondly we see it every day where people come to us wanting something approved for Queensland Transport. They spoke with their mate who had a mate whose cousin did the same thing back in the eighty’s. So of course armed with this snippet of information they know everything. Things get heated here very often as you can imagine (And no I don’t work for Queensland Transport.) A little bit of knowledge and a whole lot of self confidence is a very dangerous thing. I must say though, it is extremely easy to take the easy way out and jump to conclusions. I heard this so it must be right and now I have an opinion.
The other thing is that everyone interprets things differently and there in lies another point for argument.
We have all done it but hopefully we have all also learnt from doing it. Lets all as a “Community” of differing Minorities aim to hear each others opinions and take them for what they are. An opinion for which we can base some grown up conversation around.
