Comparing Kryolan and Dermablend
Posted by Anonymous on 22/12/2004 at 11:44 pmCurrently I use Kryolan but I’m thinking of trying Dermablend. The trouble is they receomment their fixer and their remover with the cover creme which triples the cost.
Can anyone who uses Dermablend tell me whether either the fixer and remover are esssential? Or can you get away with other powders and makeup removers?

Guest23/12/2004 at 12:50 pmHi Fiona, I have seen information on Dermablend before but have never seen reference to Kryolan. Can you tell me how to research it and where to purchase discreetly. Sorry I cant help with advice but I am seeking advice instead.

Guest23/12/2004 at 8:29 pmHi Jennifer,
Kryolan is a brand of professional stage makeup. It comes in a brand called Dermacolour. It works well covering beard shadow.
I bought mine from Trigend but, at the time it was also available through Drag Bag – but both of these local tranny suppliers have gone – but I think you will find it locally through stage and wedding makeup suppliers.

Hi Girls
Kryolyn and Dermablend are much of a muchness
Kryolan you can obtain from Showface in the City (somewhere under the bridge south side) they are really helpful and tranny friendlyDermablend you can obtain from I think its Terry White Chemist in Westfield Parramatta (Level4?)
They have a specific Dermablend consultant who is quite helpful also
Girls DONT SAY ITS FOR THE WIFE OK
Discreetly say yes its for me
Ask to try it on your face
The consultant is there to sell makeup and also to help your selection.
I went in boy mode and had only helpful serviceShe may be a little standoffish to start but generally most makeup people are very tranny friendly
I use dermablend as a beard cover then kryolyn stick makeup with any setting powder.
Hope this helps

Guest21/05/2005 at 12:18 pmYes, thank you Tianna. That’s very good information and it looks like they are setting up an on line shop too – like Orbis for Dermablend.
Have you tried both products? What do you think?
I have tried both now and as Shanalee said they are much the same but I feel Kryolan adheres better to the skin. When I use Dermablend [which is a better colour match] and setting powder then apply blush and powder with brushes the Dermablend still seems to move. And it doesn’t look as perfect as I’d like.
Am I doing something wrong?

Guest22/05/2005 at 10:43 amNot a problem Fiona.
Actually i havent tried both products, however you have given me a wealth of information, so Thank you! I know now that Kryolan would most probably be better than Dermablend.
Will be going to buy some this week and will let you know the cost of the make up.
By the way Fiona, you look lovelyTianna

Guest23/05/2005 at 12:41 pmThank you Frances.
Looks like a very good place for Kryolan and other concealer products. Can’t Dermablend. The Derma stuff mentioned looks like the Dermacolor Kryolan products.
But good place.
