  • Corsets – choosing the right type

Posted by Anonymous on 04/07/2007 at 7:57 am

Hiya Gurls, I want to buy a new corset and have been perusing all the sites and most say to get a good waistline you should opt for the victorian underbust or a waist training style. The one I have at present is an underbust but it bulges out at the top and looks … well its not the slim chicky babe look I want shall I say!!!! The rest is ok and it gives me a reasonable waist but I need to try to hide the bulgy bits!! Any suggestions??
    Thanks
    Lori

    Hi Lori
Regarding your corset queries, try staylace.com-the website of the Long Island Staylace Association-you may get all the info you need there.
Just a hint -I use a waist cincher with a long line bra over the top to cover any bulge, then a full slip over the top to achieve a smooth line.If I am to wear a corset for any length of time,I usually wear another slip underneath the corset as a liner to prevent any chafing which may occur.
BTW,I guess you know to buy approx three to four inches smaller than your actual waist size.

    Hope this helps

Hi Lori, Sharyn here. I always thought there were a lot of questions regarding corsets. I rang glamour corsets in Sydney after looking at theisr website. Talked to a very helpful lady there about corsets and my crossdressing needs. I felt comfortable with it, and have ordered a corset and a new dress. hope it works out.

Go to ebay and find ‘Leatherotics’, I was a fan of Vollers and Axfords for years but I would not look anywhere else now. On price alone Leatherotics are hard to beat.

    Cheers

I have been surfing for corsets for a while and the best place that I’ve found online are

    http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/ALTER-EGO-EROTICS__W0QQ_armrsZ1

    there is also

    http://www.vollers-corsets.com/

    http://www.galleryserpentine.com.au/

I have bought from both alter-ego and gallery serpentine and have been impressed with both these companies products

    Hope these are a help

    Hi Girls,
This may be a dumb question but I have not been game to invest in corset as I dont know if you can put them on by yourself. Could you tell me.
    Thank you

as a general rule Bree, corsets do require 2 people, a wearer and someone to tighten the ties at the back. I’m told that after the ties at the back are tightened to fit you, it may be possible to put one on by yourself just by doing up the clips at the front….but you would have to be good at holding your breath so as to suck your tummy in to do it… and I still don’t think it would be very easy. The other hard part is getting the right size for you….I have bought a few of various sizes off ebay and still haven’t got one to fit… my partner would help me put one on but so far she seems to be benefiting from my purchases more than me… unless you are prepared to go in and try one on, buying them from sight alone is almost impossible, despite sellers posting approximate sizes and measurements.

The Classic lace up back type and clip fasteners at front is probably the best for shaping. You do need someone to lace and tie the back for you for the first time while you have the front secured and then its Ok for at least a few wears before you have to go through that routine again ie you can attach the front fasteners yourself for a few times before the back needs some attention.

I bought mine at Debras in Sydney and the Girls there are fine about helping you with fittings even in male mode phone first and they will suggest a suitable time to make you feel comfortable.

I have a few other shapers that are Lycra and have fasteners that clip together like a bra but if you are doing it yourself you usually have to fasten them from the front and then slip the cincher slowly around till they are in line with your spine. It can be a hard task sometimes !!!

    Hope this helps

HI Ladies, here in the west there is Dan one of our chameleons and is pretty good and all custom made to the individual you can find him at scarletdreams, below is a copy of the message he posted at chams.

    Stef

Hi all, I now have a couple of corset pics up online for those who are interested, at
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/scarletdreams/sets/72157603996704517/

I can make virtually any style of corset, but I specialise in Victorian corsetry and fitting TS/CD girls. I use only top quality materials and all my corsets are hand-finished.

Custom corsets start from $500, but I have a policy that if you will provide pictures of you in the finished corset (no faces needed if you are a bit camera shy) for use in my gallery and for advertising purposes, I will give a 10% discount off the corset price.

If you have any questions or want to order a corset, I can be contacted at scarlet.dreams@optusnet.com.au Smile

    Hi Bree
Corsets are wonderful things, im a dd breasted gurl and i love to pull the waste line in.

You can do it your self as i do.

I have my corsets made by http://www.dragonsbloodcreations.com in SA
    im in nsw.
They are a bit less expensive and for heavens sake gurl don’t waste time, money and frustration getting one elsewhere.
The corset must be made and fit you only.
When done up correctly the gap at the back has to have parralell sides, this doesn’t work with conventional off the rack stuff, as when god created our bodies he failed in the big hips and fat ass bit.

Here’s the trick, as i do… and i cinch in up to 3 inches, sometimes having to donate a kidney and shut down 1 lung to achieve….

With a personally made one, slip into it, cross the tension cords over at the back with top at the top and bottom etc,
Hook them around a pair of door handles (a door with knobs both sides),
And walk backwards creating tension and its quite easy to pluck the “X” chords at the rear to self tension.

A good one to start with is a “waspie style” its a waste cincher, under bust and you can get the knack easily with this type.

I have heaps of corsets around but the only ones i wear are the 3 i had made at DBC.

Ask for Terry, she’s very tranny friendly.
