Maybe this is a silly question, but what happens if you take the ‘bones’ out of a corset?

Will it still give the right shape when it’s done up?

I love my corset but when it’s under tight clothing the bones are visible..

Depends on the shape of the corset, but sometimes you will get bulges in all the wrong areas . Have you tried wearing a full slip under the dress, this should help to mask the boning

Oh Andi don’t do that hun it will just not do what it was designed to do. Oil wear my steel boned corset under a wrap dress from maggie T it elastic material is quite revealing and showed theory as well. The lovely lady at the shop suggested a body shaper full slip with built in bra, expensive but wow !!! I look amazing. I also have some simple body shaper cinchers in fabrics like spans or Ambra this also smooths out the lines. Just experiment.

    Thanks Jess and Nicol!

A couple of my dresses have built-in slips which do seem to ameliorate the issue somewhat.

I’ll try the body shaper / slip idea that you both posted! :D

That will probably help make the whole thing smoother.. in fact it has ruffles around the edges that show through too (maybe it’s meant to be outerwear? I’m not an expert)

    Hi Andi,

I love corsett wear but more as a single item of clothing with the accessories. If your after a particular shape under your clothes I suggest you try a rubber waist corsett. I purchaced one on line a few months ago and it doesn’t show visible lines . They are shaped to accentuate the waist and give a little, so you can wear them all day if needed. I agree with wearing a slip as well

I have the same problem with corsets & cinchers. I have a couple of Rago bodysuits that flatten out the waist & stomach to a certain degree but would like to be able to pull in a little more without the bulk of a cincher etc. http://www.americanshapewear.com

Kristen > Thanks a lot for the link! Their shapewear looks great, I guess the ‘extra firm’ option is what I need LOL. Did you order yours through the ‘American Shapewear’ site?

Bridgette > Thanks for the tip also. Is a rubber corset the same thing as shapewear, or different? 😳 So many options to choose from..

No Andi, I bought mine here – http://www.americanshapewear.com/ You might find them cheaper somewhere else though. From memory, delivery was reasonably prompt. K :)
