A lady from work is having a costume party soon. Its a 1920’s theme. She doesn’t know about Melissa but she asked me about my costume today. I just said I’m looking at doing something a bit “crazy”. She said that she doesn’t care what I go as, so long as I’m comfortable, its a 1920’s costume which doesn’t have to be a gangster or a flapper but anything from the 1920’s.
I don’t think she necessarily was thinking of me turning up in a dress but who knows?
I’ve been looking at flapper costumes and can certainly put something together. I kind of feel that I almost need (for want of a better term) to go enfemme as I need to do something to kind of break of out my comfort zone and really shake things up.
Has anyone been to a work or family function which was a costume party and a guy turned up in a woman’s costume?
Or has someone here gone to a party enfemme where the other people attending didn’t know about your femme side?
The size of this party will be 100 and at least one person who is going knows about Melissa.
The alternative is to go to an opshop, get a pin striped suit and go as a gangster which will certainly be a lot easier

:( melbourne cup lunch. Girls should go in race going outfits. As if they were at the track. I thought. So. I mentioned it to my wife that Fiona would like to go to the lunch. Pretty. Ok. Do it was the reply. I went shopping. I got a dress at the first shop I went into. Plus a bag and shoes. From one shop. I rang my. Wife to tell her. The reply. And a hat. Oops no ok. Back to the same shop. Got a fab cup type hat,, the reception at the luncheon. The males hardly said a word good or bad. But. The girls. Only my wife and I in cup outfits. They were in slacks and flatties. I think they were a bit put out that they were so drab. I didn’t do my nails as I said I couldn’t get a booking at the nail shop,, to my surprise one girl said she wud have done them for me if I had asked,,, a great time was had,, I think they all know now of Fiona but her name never comes up when we all go out. Oh except for my shoes. Males and females all liked them and that is what comes up every so often. “have u still got those red high heels”

Have you tried doing a Google images search on the following for ideas, Melissa.
    “womens fashion” 1920s
It comes up with a lot of stuff that isn’t dancehall flappers.

Just a quick thought the ABC program “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries” has beautiful costumes from this era.

Worth a look for some ideas about the fashions and accessories.
