On the 29th august Vicki posted an alert on purchasing from the Chinese site DHgate

“On the 9 August I used an online shopping site DHGATE and after several weeks and messing me about no product.

    Vicki “

My personal experience from this site is excellent. I have purchased over a dozen items from earrings, shoes, clothing and other “equipment” and have found their service and quality most satisfactory.

Only warning is to be careful with sizes as they tend to quote US sizing but most sites within DHgate give a listing of alternate and conversion measurements.

On 1 occasion an item was reposted 2 weeks later and now I have 2 items!

DHgate appears to be like a central clearing house for many suppliers.

    Fay.

DHGate is a shopping forum similar to eBay, AliExpress, where many individual sellers group to sell their items. DHGate has a ESCROW system where the funds are not released to the seller until the purchaser has either confirmed they received the items, or after a certain time after the purchase has occurred.

    There is a complaints department.

One way to avoid disappointment to to look up the sellers history before purchase. What is their satisfaction rating from buyers, what are some of the feedback comments.
I find unless the % is 98% or higher, I usually look for another seller of the same item.

I have made 94 separate purchases with vendors listed on DHGate since Feb 2010 and I have only had 2 experiences where an item delivered was not as described (A camera filter described as being Multicoated when it was not). These were resolved by a return of some of my paid fee.

It is unfortunate that not all sellers are perhaps as good as they could be, but this can be the case anywhere.
