I read the comments on the article, and whatever you think of the clothes, the comments were either homophobic or misinformed about the gender and sexuality of men who do wear skirts.

I doubt if there will seriously be a move for men to wear dresses in the main stream, especially with comments like ” If I saw a guy in the street wearing clothes like that, I’d assume he was gay. No masculine man would be caught dead wearing that nonsense, so I guess we women have nothing to worry about.” which probably sums up the general attitude to this.

    Such is life I suppose.

    Hi,

My comment is how i see it as a woman men wont wear skirts like what i saw , & nether would i . not even tastfully done . had they been kilts then yes some men would wear them .

Because we are Scottish we do have some pride in what we wear, both our men & women & yes what we have & wear is very smart & looks rather nice, quite lovely in fact,

Just personally, biased by my own aesthetic preferences, I thought the collection was poor & the models emaciated. Therefore, I find it hard to disagree with the bulk of the commentary made on the website but fashion & aesthetics are purely personal, so my opinion, along with everyone elses is irrelevant.

It is not new for fashion designers, musicians & artists & other creatives to push boundaries. Skirts, dresses, blouses etc for men are not a new idea but the more people are exposed to ‘radical’ ideas the more they become accustomed to variation. Think of the motor industry; at any motor show displaying ‘concept’ cars you will see new concepts & in 5 – 10 years time you may well be driving one.
The fashion catwalk is a place to push boundaries, let them push away, it helps break down barriers.

The designers are doing their bit, I guess it’s up to the men who do wear skirts to speak up & set the record straight?

Correct me if I am wrong, but, I would have thought that if someone was going to design dresses and skirts for men, that they might have come up with some styles that actually suited the male body.

Although my taste is far and away different to the styles illustrated, and I realise that my opinion of the styles may not agree with many other peoples, but I don’t think they even come into the realm of good design principals. I doubt if any of these dresses would even look good on a coat hanger.

They don’t fit well and they certainly don’t look as if they could ever be made to fit well either. They just aren’t designed properly for the type of body they are on.

    Ask GOK! he’ll tell you.
