  • Eau de toilette vs Eau De Parfum.

    Afternoon to all on TGR,

It’s been years since I’ve used any type of perfume and in those days it did not matter if it “hung around a bit”, cos I was usually half way through a four week o/s work trip and all traces of it would be gone by the time I got home to Mrs. Bloodhound… Sorry, my beloved (sic) ex…..

Now I’m back into full Caty mode, I’d like to try to wear some on my “Caty days”.

As much as I’d like it not to, I need it to wash off when I shower in the evenings on the above days. Cant have any traces on pillowslips etc for when ‘er indoors comes home and washes them.

Someone told me eau de toilette is much lighter than eau de parfum and therefore should wash off much easier.

Can any of you good people, especially those whom have transitioned ,shed any light on this subject for me.

    As always,

    Happy Dressing,

    Caty

There both the same thing my suggestion would be find something not strong I’m pretty sure I spray myself in Britney Spears curious midnight fantasy and fantasy with her list goes on I spray it on in the morning and I can’t smell anything in the afternoon but mind u I’m not sure cause I’m use to it

Why don’t u just use impulse body spray it won’t last long smells pretty and yeah

Ps hello kitty body spray is the best I love it when I use it everyone’s like chels u smell like bubblegum lol

    Thanks Chelsea,

I think I need to go for something a bit more “sedate”, cos by the look of your photo, I am far more “mature” than you.

    But I’ll keep looking.

    Thanks again

Eau de toilette is basically a dilution of eau de parfum depending on the fragrance the scent will stay longer and stronger with the parfum. If you were like me and used some of the more powerful scetts like opium, obsession , jean paul gotier classic whether you use diluted or not it will matter not. I have many different fragrances and most are stong stayers including all the Britney Spears range . You would have to aim for a subtle fragrance to have any chance of not being able to smell it but if you use a strong male fragrance you will definitely be safe . I used to use the mens obsession not as strong as the femme but the same. That means that I didn’t have to worry about it of course these days I tend to waft into a room cause I just love to smell gorgeous.

And the impulses can be strong too so don’t be fooled into a false sense of security by spray cans. I back spay with them and the strawberries and cream hello kitty to ad depth to my scent. Of course I do everything in excess lol.

Kristyana is correct on her statement that the Eau de Toilette is a diluted version of a Perfume, they are not as strong in smell and the scent does not last as long and is easily washed off. I like to wear during the day for work a perfume by Elizabeth Arden called Green Tea. I have been wearing it to work for nearly a year and have received many a complement. It is quite gender neutral which is why I wear it when I have to present myself (unfortunately) somewhat male.
    Cheers…Karly

Good morning to the above very helpful TGR members.

Thanks for your advice…I will be in the Melbourne CBD tomorrow so I’ll see if the male me has enough “intestinal fortitude” to go to the Myer perfume counters and say “it’s for me”. (instead of it’s” ‘er indoors birthday” etc etc.)

    Thanks again
