This is a message to everyone who is still using the little foam applicators that come with makeup or flimsy little brushes.
“Just because the makeup comes with a free applicator doesn’t mean that is the best way to apply it”

Many years ago I decided to see if applying makeup with brushes was easier than using the little foam applicators – there are plenty of articles on-line extolling the virtues of brushes so I was expecting to see an instant result.

Well I didn’t! The brushes didn’t hold much makeup so I had to go back for more all the time, they didn’t provide a clear line so everything was a bit fuzzy. So it was still easier to use the foam thingies for my eyes.

    What was I doing wrong?

The answer is I had just gone to the supermarket and bought the cheapest set of brushes I could find. You get what you pay for and cheap brushes are apparently little better than free ones.

A couple of months ago I noticed that Woolworths/BigW was selling EcoTools brushes. They certainly weren’t the cheapest but the price was reduced (damaged packaging) and they did look nice. So I bought a set.

And the difference is amazing. Whether drawing fine lines on my eyebrows or filling in my cheeks the various shaped brush tips work wonders. They hold the makeup well, and apply it so evenly it is like watching a panel sprayer.

So I can’t recommend buying a good set of makeup brushes highly enough.
Treat yourself to something that will actually improve the final result of your makeup.

I personally recommend EcoTools. Available in Woolies/BigW/Priceline…and probably other places.
