    Estrace (estrogen) where art thou?

Posted by Anonymous on 16/02/2010 at 1:49 pm

I asked my now ex-GP today about the micronised bioidentical Estrace, she returned a blank look and then scanned her little computer database thingy and said it appears to not be available in Australia. I don’t know if she was just fobbing me off (I wouldn’t be surprised knowing her) so I was wondering if anyone else in Australia has been able to get a script for it? Or even heard of anyone that has found it? etc etc.

Estrace comes under the generic name of ESTRADIOL and is available in Australia under various names including Estracombi, Estradot, Femtran, Sandrena and Vagifem to name but a few.

I just found out it also comes under the name estrofem and is available in Aust. Just need to find a GP that doesn’t have his/her head buried in the sand, or up some drug companies butt… either way.

Estrofem (eostradoil as hemihydrate) 2mg should be readily available.
    Also estrodot patches.
The patches work well to give the kidneys a rest.
Asking the gp for micronised bioidentical Estrace would create “a kangaroo in the headlights” response.
You can always get them yourself at
    http://www.inhousepharmacy.com/transgender/estrofem-t.html
I get almost all my meds from there now, i just get the endo to check me out every so often.
    Some are heaps cheaper.
They are real fast and trustworthy.
No script needed but in saying that be very careful, some drugs like cyproterone can cause deep depression and have been linked to suicide in some people.
If you take anti depressants things like finesteride can also cancel them out and cause big problems (i know this for a fact)
Always get a good endo to give the go ahead on any meds, A gp is basically just a script writer.
    Good luck xox
