    Hi girls
I was wondering if anyone could help me with false nails. I bought a set and when I put put them on they seemed to come off with the slightest knock. It appears the glue was sticking to the false nails really well but not to my real fingernails. Is there any way or a better glue that will have a better hold.

I find the self stick pads no good, and apply liberal quantities of the Super glue they supply. I make sure I have some super glue remover, which you can get from the local hardware stores.

I buy the nail kits from the local chemist I dont usually have a problem with the glue although you do have to press firmly on the nails for about 20 secs to get them to stay in place, also they come with glue remover which works really well too.

I have a question for finding false nails with wider withs
for ladies with larger fingers ( especially thumb nails).
Can anyone help with advice on a brand type and place to
    get them.

    Regards Monique.

Before you apply the false nails try giving your natural nails a once over with nail polish remover to rid them of excess oil. When dry apply the nailglue or adhesive pads. You will find they will hold to the nail better. Just remember Super Glue and Nail Glue are cyanoacrylatics and require a good solvent to break down the glue without damaging the underlying nail. However this will kill any chance of wearing the falsies a second time around. Be sure to avoid the glue making contact with skin.

    Hi Girls
I know this post is 6 months old but I am catching up being a new member.
I am a qualified nail technician , learnt the trade at Fuss in Oxford St Paddington NSW.
If you still want false nails for your thumbs please email me, I still have sets here.
The best bet is to buy glue from a beautician, maybe expensive, but at least you know it will work.

I had the same problem when I first tried false nails but after having a manicure, which removed the ridges on my nails, I broke a nail and put on a false one which stayed on for 2 days.

On the subject of Wider Nails, I purchased a pair of Manicare Nails for larger hands. Most of them just fit but some were a tad small and I have relatively small hands for a male. The biggest thing that had me perturbed was the fact that the glue had cured in the tube. But the adhesive pads were the perfect substitute. I however, have given up on false nails, and if I am getting dressed for a big occasion (never of late, it has been over 15 months since I was at a Seahorse meeting due to an interstate move), I would plan ahead a week or two and let my natural nails grow then get a manicure done at the salon.

But hey….it’s all about personal choice isn’t it.

    Hi ladies,

I know I’m about a year behind on this post but I thought this info may be of some help to others who may take a peek in this forum.

In regards to false nails not lasting very long,

I’m currently doing a nail tech course here in WA and was recently told by my teacher that nail tips (false nails) will only last 1 to 2 days by them selves which is great if you only want them for a night out but if you want them to last longer they need to have an acrylic or gel coat over them. The glue used to attach the tips is really only to hold the tip in place and to allow for shaping and blending of the tip to the natural nail. The actual strength of false nails comes from the acrylic or gel coat that is applied over both the natural nail and newly applied tip.

Hope this helps clarify the issue with tips breaking off.
