I have read somethings here in the last few weeks that leave a hollow feeling. Looking at the commentary running in various forums it is obvious there is a lot to be said about this community. It appears that though the grass is trampled we individuals continue to turn up and go over it again.

It would appear that we will continue because there is a vacuum. We though interested have no guidance and ramble aimlessly. If we were a functional community communicating effectively we would progress and create structure to guide our people to create a coherent direction and give focus to actions.

If we had structure we would develop leaders that could carry our voices to the people who can make a difference. We want a difference we need to change develop a strong structured community with leaders. If we act alone we will forever struggle.

Gender diverse leadership, where is it? Well, I can’t speak for South Australia because I don’t know SA at all. However here in the ACT we have strong leadership and organisational skills in the form of Peter Hyndal of AGA, a member of TGR. Peter, et.al has instigated change that has benifited all of Australian transgender people, and for that we are eternally grateful.
I sense in Kristyana a sense of frustration and stagnation that we are failing to gain ground in attempts at pushing the transgender wheel barrow. Or is Kristyana referring to TGR, I don’t know.
The wheels of progress turn slowly, but solidly as shown by the achievements of the global transgender community in recent years. Australia, I think is well to the fore in contributing to these achievements. If someone is looking for a magic spell to overnight change the status of transgender people into total social acceptability, then I think there would be an neverending wait.

I am referring not to any group specifically , certainty though all groups need to buy inference, make greater efforts to communicate their actions to the wider community there by preventing others from repeating efforts unnecessarily. A national approach to the important matters that stand to benifit us is going to require a solid community front.

I am aware of the activities in the ACT but not the details and structure of that organisation. As I am now a committee member and pr rep for carousel her in SA I will be at some point be seeking out and corresponding with any other willing participants. I feel we can improve matters for all if we commit to informing each other . It is a fact that I have been a little disenchanted with what I see but that’s why I have decided to make a personal effort to help improve things.

Of course I am yet to attend a committee meeting to express what I have here but I hope my input will recieve a warm response.

Hard topic to comment upon. I am a sort of freelance member of TgR and have no real alliances to any state based TG/CD community, however the more I travel down the road the more I need support, I have it with a few TG/CD friends and I do know SA has a very effective club that Kristyana is a member .

I have been to a Carrousel Club meeting and I can honestly say that the club is organised, well run and well represented, but SA is doing good things and ACT is doing similar, but there’s no real communication between state/territory based organisations. Perhaps this omission may be addressed at a communal venue such as Transformal?

This may be something of a pipedream, but if there are several different TG/CD state based organisations doing what they believe is best then perhaps it might be an opportunity to get together and try to develop a single approach to get a real voice.

I’d be happy to be part of it and work in liaising with the separate groups.
