It would appear that, like myself, there are quite a few folks here who enjoy the goth look.
So I am wondering what draws you to it ?
Are you gothic anyway and that is just the way you would dress ? Do you listen to the old school goth rock or EBM ? Go to clubs ?

For me, I have always loved the look. That brooding darkness yet so utterly femine and glam. The overubundance of jewelry, flowing fabrics, great hair, wild makeup – the list goes on.
But I also love the music, Sisters of Mercy, Speciman, Alien Sex Fiend, Fadgadet – that list also goes on and on.
So for me it is a way I would dress anyway – where I actually female (I guess / without getting to philisophical)

I did try and spend some time with the local goth community here in Adelaide but they are an odd lot and despite the so called “openess to anything” – some people were a bit freaked :-/ So mostly went in male mode – I just wanted to enjoy the music. That and the fact that most of them were fairly immature kids with some kind of crap going on. There are not to many elder goths left in Adelaide – those guys I did get on with but, I think even they were a little freaked.

    So how about you ?

Love purple :-) Certaily one of the better colours :-)

Saw a giant bat piece today that I would really like. It must be over 10 cm’s across – would look great with a corsett. Alchemy I think – pretty sure it costs a fair bit.

Sadly, as far as I know, there are no fetish clubs here in Adelaide. Hellfire tried to start up here but they went about it the wrong way and pretty much got driven out of town with pitchforks raised and torches burning… I would love to visit Melbourne for Hellfire (good music from what I have heard) or maybe Sydney..

New on here, and been going through most of the forums, and feell silly putting a reply in this thread seeing it was started so long ago.. :?

Goth no but Pyschobilly yes. Easiest way to ‘label’ this would be is a Goth Rockabilly 😈

So, Im into the whole 50’s look (pin-up), like a rockabilly gal, but with tattoo’s and the genre of music is rockabilly based but more on the ‘gore/horror’ theme, not all ‘labelled’ psychobilly bands follow this theme but it give’s yall a jist of what I mean.. :)

On the Adelaide front though, as Im originally from there, I thought the Goth scene was going strong, well limited to a few ‘alternate’ pubs/clubs, but still some sort of the ‘scene’ as I have a few GG friends down that way who are into it..

    Hey Joanne,

I’m into ’50s too. I reckon it must be because of what my mumma wore back then. …I still have fond memories.

I love the rockabilly theme, but dunno about the scene. Still from one perspective you have wiggle dresses and pencil skirts and tight high waisted dungarees, …and on the other the fabulous flowy floral fitted dresses with acres of petticoat underneath, so lovely !!

To be complete (as if transported back in time), you simply must wear the appropriate undergarments; longline or bullet bras, open girdles or pantygirdles, (wht’s gonna hold ya stockin’s up ??) and all that razz and stuff that magicly makes you feel so ‘trussed up’ and such a gal !!!!!

And then, of course, ….there’s the hair to do !!!!!

I also love the Dark Lolita look with all the lace and ruffles, absolutely girly and I still listen to my favourite pyschobilly band “The Meteors” as they were a major part of my teens and early 20’s. I also love the “swamp music” of the 80’s, my favourite band “The Cramps” I love as I really got into their music and loved the way the band dressed. The lead singer ‘Lux Interior’ wore leather and pvc with heels, a very B&D look, most other male members who played in the band dressed and looked like hot females and the base guitarist ‘Poison Ivy’ was my dream girl in her bodice’s and corsets with fishnets, heels and stunning wavy curly red hair. The early Cramps music “Pyschedelic Jungle” is still my favourite of all time. You should give them a listen to Alice, you may like the raunchy sound.

    Hi Jannine,

Yeh I just love the whole 40′-50’s look, the gals just looked so graceful and glamorous. Yeh I got a wiggle dress and a pencil skirt (that doesn’t fit anymore grrr.. :? ) with a 3/4 sleeve top that went with it. Im looking at a web site I recently found in Brisbane, omg, I could spend a months wage in there, lol, but still getting over the big christmas spend.. but defiently got my eye on this lovely turquoise floral dress.. :D And the hair.. ugh, thats the most painful part, trying to get a wig to do what you want..

    Hey Karly,

I love the Cramps, sad though that Lux is no longer with us though. I think the Meteors are still kicking around though, but defiently both old school bands, timeless classisc’s 😈
