Personally, I find not reacting to people who are out to try to score points by taking a transgrrl on works best, or at worst, looking down my own nose at some fool who wants to make a scene, before walking away, the most personally acceptable response…

    But thats just me.

Mari – I can only agree, though the urge not to retaliate in some way sometimes only comes with experience. Losing your temper in those situations just plays into their hands.

Normal people (the vast majority) tend to think that someone who wants to gratuitously score points is rude, ignorant, arrogant etc…which may be revenge enough.

Calmly insisting that you know your rights and asking to speak to their supervisor can solve many problems.

Nice to see all your replies, I must be the unluckiest one around, first time out dressed got stopped by the booze bus after just 5 minutes driving, talk about heart pounding stuff, no problems with the police, but wait on the way home you guessed it stopped again, again with no problems. Police in WA are friendly on the whole and don’t bother you unless your really doing something wrong I’ve found. They do have a tough job and I’m sure they have better things to do than worry about how people live their private lives unless it impacts on the community in a detrimental manner.

    Hi again,

I just have to update on this. A lot has happened to me since my last post on this subject, June 4. As I said then I guess my turn will come with being pulled over and yes it has !

I now leave the house regulary as “Miss Mel” and get around a bit including going to Sydney (120 K) and Friday last was pulled up on the way home by a RBT and yes was dressed. Anyway pulled up very nervously and police were fine, did there job and were polite so again a well done to the boys in blue.

So another interesting tale in my journey. Life is sure very interesting now and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

    Hugs,
    Melanie :D

as one who travels by car and feels very safe inside my little fortress, this shows me that outside forces can make their way in. And I find that the New South Wales police force treating people as individuals with respect make a little happier.

But Amy is right that it was the girls before us who struggled to get recognition for all of us, we owe them so much.

    Penny.
