How can I dress to detract from heavy shoulders?

Males have a hip width about 10.5cm narrower than their shoulders. women have a typical difference of about 2.5cm. The most effective way to “reduce” your shoulders is to increase the width of your hips. See the section on curves for some suggestions. Adding to the hip width also has the effect of making the waist look smaller. You will also need to go large on bust size to balance the shoulders and hips. The result is MUCH more natural than trying to go without padding, and the padding adds suprisingly little to your apparent weight, and you will also find that getting the proportions to “average woman” shape will make it easier to buy clothes.

Break up shoulders and large chests by layering.
Don’t wear straight colours, or if you do wear a white collared shirt unbuttoned to break it up.
Hands are the crossdressers curse, long nails will tend to make your fingers look longer and more delicate and if you can wear nail polish, this will help disguise big nails which go with big hands.

Wear dresses like larger women do and stick to longer sleeves and remove hair from the hands.

If you have very wide shoulders this is the biggest problem with this part of the body.To create a believable female shape here you must get your hips at least the width of your shoudlers, preferably a little wider. One of the ways you can do this is to by a proper corset.I where one sometimes.A good one will cost you about $300.00.They pull your tummy in and simulate hips, girls must have hips.If you want to pass in public to any extent this is very importaNT.Try experimenting with lady s coats/Formal or dressy ones work well because they usally have body, and contours in them which can help simulate curves.Avoid flimsy flowy things there not good at hiding male shape. The smaller you are across the shoulders the easier it will be for you.If you can fit in to a size 12,coat ok then theres hope, any bigger than this may be a problem.

Maybe try a wrap top, one that crosses over and draws attention away from the shoulders. Don’t wear halter neck tops or strappy singlets. Floatey ruffled cuffs draw attention away from the shoulders as well.

I saw something the other night on what not to wear the english version and one of the ladies said that the person and she was a bigger girl should wear a top with the splits in the arms the short sleave ones with the split that goes from the sholder to the cuff it draws away from the shoulder and cuts them in half
