The only thing that spooks me is if a woman has young kids with her. I wait until they are gone rather than confront them with the knowledge that this man is buying these knickers or skirt for himself 😆

You may find yourself pleasantly surprised when one of the kids looks at you and says “hello, lady”.

I usually shop in large department stores – Target is my favourite. Cheap and fairly good range and know one seems to pay any attention to you. I have only shopped in male mode so far but if not sure of my size will try the clothes on in the change rooms. So far I haven’t had any negative experiences despite my initial axiety and usually just get a smile or more often indifference. I guess they are used to that sort of thing.

I think it would probably be easier shopping dressed (no misunderstandings) and plan on doing that in the near future. It has taken me a while to build up the courage – baby steps but I am nearly there. I don’t plan on going on my own though and will go with a friend for support. I also think for the first few outings at least it would be advisable to plan the trip, such as locality, type of stores and staff attitude if possible. Anything to make the experience more pleasurable and avoid unpleasantries.
