    Hi Everyone
Can anyone tell me the best way to clean costume jewellery (cheap jewellery) .
I went out the other night and it was really hot, well not going into too much boring detail I ended up with a black ring around my neck from my necklace. Now being a expat pom we are known for leaving a black ring around the bath. But I promise I had a shower.
So if you have any handy hints on cleaning cheap jewellery I would be eternally grateful as I can’t afford the good stuff. Thanks

    Take care all
    Lilly M.

A couple of drops of detergent in a bowl of warm water. simply soad the jewellery for a cpl of minutes then swish them around gently.
Dry with a soft cloth. I have used this method for ages with no bad effects on the jewellery. THis does depend on the qyuality of the costume jewellery in the first place.
WARNING: Dont use this for ‘pearls’ even costume pearls should be simply wiped with a damp cloth then dried immeadiately – never soaked and washed.
Hope this is of some assistance, feel free to email if you need more info

The black ring is likely to be a reaction between the sweaty salts in your body and LEAD.

    Yep, I kid you not.

If you have a green ring it’s copper and that’s good for you’re health :)

Be careful when buying costume jewellery, especially if it’s made in China. hey use huge amounts of lead in the dyes and the metals.

It’s cheap, it’s been dumped by dozens of countries, they are lapping it up and selling it back.
