Hi to all my lovely friends here at TGR sorry for the absence but have been super busy over the holidays and now am back have a real favour to ask all of you for your opinions.

So the story is was wearing my favourite black dress the other day and as I walked past a doorway RIIIIP it catches on part of the frame and ripps right across the bottom of the dress. Shattered is not the word.

Well rather than throw it away I put some of my dressmaking skills to play and managed to make a reasonable job of shortening and repairing the dress hem. Held it up and was quite pleased with myself. Because I had to shorten it I new that it would now be a mini dress but thought that might be okay as I could certainly wear it in summer. However have tried it on. It is very short and while it covers my bum and girly bits while I am standing straight if I bend at the waist up she rides and people will get a lovely view of my panties. I am over the age of consent 50+ and was wondering weather an old gal like me should, could or would wear a dress so short. I have quite nice legs I like to think but not sure if the world is ready for me to show them all off. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated as I cant really try it on and ask my partner what she thinks
    Love as always

Any length that potentially causes embarrassment to others is too short IMHO.
No matter how good your legs are, the glamour of the look will be cheapened by too much on display.
The solution is simple – get a pair of leggings (not tights) and wear the dress as a tunic.

And remember the shorter the hemline the more attention it attracts which might not always a good thing.

Good answer Adrian. I love wearing short skirts and dresses but not so short that the top of my thigh highs aren’t covered whether bending over or not. Showing legs is one thing; anything more just seems untidy (tacky).

To be honest with you a Tea Length or knee length dress that shows your curves can be just alluring as a short dress. Short dresses are fine so long as they don’t ride up and show the lesser half of your buttocks. I applaud you sewing skills and recycling techniques but legs aside .. glamour can also be in make up and a well fitting garment.
