    HRT & muscle tone/strength

Posted by Anonymous on 02/04/2013 at 12:01 pm

Though I have been living full-time now for 8 months, in two weeks time I will have my initial consultation with an endocrinologist for HRT.

I’m keen to hear from anyone with direct personal experience regarding the effects of HRT on their muscle tone & strength.

Before I explain my situation, I wish to acknowledge that I have a very clear understanding that each of us will have varying responses to HRT & that our HRT regimes will be different. I also accept that physiologically we each differ with regard to size, strength & fitness etc. Your experiences never-the-less will assist me in preparing psychologically for possible outcomes.

My personal circumstances are such that I spend approximately half of my waking hours doing extremely physical activity on a life long project. Though this activity is not my occupation it is of extreme importance to my psychological wellbeing & additionally involves all of mine & my partners assets. The ability to carry on with the project is as imortant to us both as my transition to live my gender is to me.

I am specifically concerned about my ability to continue to perform the physical tasks involved in the project should I undertake HRT.

I’ve read numerous times from varying sources that muscle tone will be lost…& aesthetically it’s what I desire…but practically, I fear it may negatively impact (too much) on my strength.

My partner is a size 8, 50kg, 52 y/o natal woman who works alongside me in all tasks, so I realise what is possible but…
I would really like to hear from others about how HRT affected their physical strength…especially if you do physical work or strenuous exercise that requires strength & stamina.

I would really appreciate your responses to this.

I have been on HRT since mid 2010, T and E levels have been that of a genetic female for at least 2 years now.
I was fairly fit and went to the gym once or twice a week, but not a gym junky. First year or so i only noticed a small reduction in strength and stamina, but i kept up my regime.
Probably last 6 months i have tapered off somewhat, muscle mass strength and stamina have all decreased to a big extent. The answer for this is i stopped working out.
My weight hasn’t changed one kilo I’m still 6ft2 and 72Kg’s, but I have lost muscle mass and gained a few fatty curvy areas (im not complaining on this part).

So from my experience if you keep doing what you are doing you will be fine, it only when you make changes your body goes hang on i don’t need all this muscle.

    Beth.

I have been on HRT Since 2011 I started losing muscle tone within the first 3 months .Starting out at 87 kg and within the first year dropped down to 79 kg and with the drop i also lost more and more Muscle tone. About Nine months ago my body started to noticeably change to a female Shape and with that i dropped down to 74 kg . As you already said .. everyone is different i can only go off what is happening to me . With the Loss of muscle tone and the changing body , i just had to find new ways of doing things.

After 3 years on oestrogen I have lost a lot of muscle across the upper body and gained a curvier bum and more of a waist. I’ve also a girly curve to my stomach. All very nice. What I have also suffered from is bursitis in my shoulders; no-one is 100% sure but it would appear that my mind wants to work like a man but my body is physically a bit more limited and is being strained by my continuing to swing the axe as a man would and not take it a bit easier.

I’ve been on antiandrogen for 3mths and E for 2mths and I hadn’t noticed any effect on muscle strength until this last weekend when I couldn’t pull start a small petrol motor while my son-in-law whose strength has been knocked around by being on dialysis had no trouble.

I think loss of strenght is part of the trade off in gaining feminity similar to loss of libido as testosterone decreases and estrogen increases .What we need is to lose male shape while becoming femme but mantain our strength
Someday there will be a pill for this

    Hi All,
I have so much news that it’s not funny. As a matter of fact I was evaluating HRT and strength in the last two weeks as I travel more into my naturopathic relm of clean foods.

I can share the fact that HRT can throw the body into low energy more. This is what I experencied with conventional HRT by the medical profession. Been there – done that!!
This was somewhat reflected by Bountiful Breasts program I self initiated without antiandrogens. Blood test have reveiled that testosterone is at base levels of 4.

But in the last couple of months I have been feeling like a dynamo. Energy has increased 400% conservitive estimate. Yes my estrogen is high and testosterone is low. And I have not felt this energy for 30years as well. I am skippng in my step. Light in my walk. Glide and no struggle. Alertness up mega fold so to speak. The brain foggyness is gone. I see a clear colorful depth of color that reminds me very often of my teenage years.

So what has changed since? It is so simple BUT you need to change your life. I am there and I am benefiting from the rewards and boundless energy at 58yrs old. I am experiencing this. I do not need to prove anything.

    Food

    > Digestion

    > Body absorbs nutrients.

So what is happening. Simply the body has to much to do.
We are dealing with a aging body
We are dealing with toxins around every corner. In common foods that a deamed safe. Safe? a lot a rubbish and MASSIVE deception.

So some time ago I went on a detoxing way of life. Not 3 days. 10 days or a month. ORGANIC. Veges raw smoothies wide range. Organic no GMO sprouted soya protien and on and on.

My energy went up, quite notably. The body had less to do so it can handle HRT a lot better. Yes I was still tired but a lot better than years ago.

My diet is excellent and it is transforming to body needs. Yes I am on HRT.
So I went to the next level. I spoke to one of my lecturers from college at a social event and had a talk. I had just started the next phase a spoke about the massive energy lift. Actually she mentioned this during lectures several semesters ago. I finally got around to it.

The body is beaking down the foods and absorbing it.
As we age and loaded with other burdens like daily toxins in fruit, supermarket foods, enviroment, medicines and OF COURSE HRT we need to lighten the burden. I have done this with raw organic foods.

The stomach and pancrease need ideal acids and enzymes to convert the food into ideally usable products the body can absorb like some one of 20years for axample.

I have taken enzymes before but not throughly as I am about to.

I started Digestaid by Eagle, PRACTIONER GRADE, taken as directed. In one week I was skipping in my walk like a 5yr old.
Talking about a new life. I feel like starting life all over again. Lose weight , trimmer body, happy and energetic AND ON HRT, no issues.

And strength, WOW. A 30kg log, no real hassles, not once, many times and still energy cutting fire wood yesterday. NO caffene or similar in sight.

I have given the body what it needs and the means to convert it.

If you put bad fuel into a engine you will get clagged results. Like placing sugar in the fuel. If you give the engine clean fuel and the method to convert fuel to energy by replacing leads, plugs, oil and rings, you will get excellent results.

What fuel are you putting in your body: smoke, drink, preservatives, colorings, gmo’s and.. and … and … and ….

Give the body less work to do. Preserve the telomeres as well.

I am living it, an I feel gr8

    Bye 4 now
    jeorjette

PS There is a lady of 65yrs old who is on the same trip I am on. See her on Utube. Suzanne Somers.
Looks good for 65, dosen’t she.
