Where your thoughts go, energy flows.
In other words if your think about intolerance you give your limited energy away to intolerance.
Conversely if you think about tolerance/acceptance you give your energy away to it. Which one will your energy serve better?

When I first started being out as my real self 6 years ago, the small number of people that reacted with shock or surprise (I only had one nasty reaction that I recall) were massively out numbered by those who didn’t give a fig. Now I can only remember friendly comments, smiles and co-operation over the last 12 months. On the broader public front marriage equality was a huge reality check for the forces of reaction. They seem to have switched from attacking LGBTI to defending themselves from the progressives or keeping their heads down .
The poor dears now worry about their religious freedoms rather than attacking our rights.
I see nothing but good news coming our way not an increase in intolerance quite the opposite. -
A famous American President, who brought dignity to his office (rather than what we are getting from the current incumbent) once said: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. There is ample evidence that there is a growing awareness and acceptance by Australians of transgender issues. I have some old friends staying with me who have no knowledge of my “other self “; however, when transgender issues arise in general conversation, it is very apparent that are aware of these issues and can discuss them in an intelligent and positive way. So something is obviously filtering through to people who in the past would have remained totally ignorant.
There will always be people restricted by the mantras of religion or ideology who will oppose those who don’t conform to their narrow-minded views of the world. Ignore these bigots, they are generally a waste of space and belong in the dustbin of history. We are here now and we are staying!

Perhaps the tide is turning in America. New York State, which now has a Democrat majority in its Senate, has just passed a Gender Discrimination Act which provides protections for the LGBTI community.

I don’t know if there is a back swing of late. Certainly the media is reporting a rise of intolerance in the USA under Trump however I do have ( I don’t really want to use this word but in this context seems appropriate) faith that it will either be a blip or the shift back to the centre Martina mentioned will stop too much harm. Certainly Australia is not America even though many would like it to be or believe it’s a forerunner of where we will be.
I’m no expert and there are many ladies here who are out and about far more than me however from experiences of late that involved many new mainstream activities during the day in mainstream Australia things are great. First waxing eek Ella Bache. Brilliant manicure pedicure brilliant. Flying to Melbourne and ADELAIDE on both Qantas and Virgin dreamy. Only problem I’ve had was a strange woman who just put her hands on her hips and just stared at me while waited for crosswalk lights to change. Her problem not mine and she was probably admiring my makeup.
So personally yes like any woman we sadly need to be aware of our surroundings which doesn’t mean scared of them and the probability is we will meet a knuckle dragger one day but that’s the price of freedom fo everyone.
